RESOLUTION NO. 2024- R-24-39
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING A GRANT
TO THE LAKE COUNTY CONVENTION AND VISITOR BUREAU
WHEREAS, Article VII, Section 10 of the 1970 Illinois Constitution authorizes the
Village of Deerfield ("Village') to contract with individuals, associations, and corporations
in any manner not prohibited by law or ordinance; and
WHEREAS, the health of the Deerfield business community is essential to residents
of the Village; and
WHEREAS, the Lake County Convention and Visitor Bureau (`Bureau') supports
the Deerfield business community, including the hotels in the Village, through a variety of
marketing and other programs; and
WHEREAS, each year the Village provides a grant to the Bureau; and
WHEREAS, the Village Board has determined that it is in the best interests of the
Village's business community and its residents to provide the Bureau a grant of $35,830.00;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE BOARD OF
DEERFIELD, LAKE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS, as follows:
SECTION 1: RECITALS. The Village Board hereby adopts the foregoing recitals as
its findings, as if fully set forth herein.
SECTION 2: APPROVAL OF GRANT. The Village Board hereby approves a grant
to the Bureau in the amount of $35,830.00.
SECTION 3: AUTHORIZATION TO EXECUTE GRANT. The Village Board
authorizes and directs the Village President, the Village Manager, the Village Clerk, and the
Village Finance Director to execute and attest, respectively, on behalf of the Village, all
documents necessary to issue the grant approved in Section 2 of this Resolution.
SECTION 4: EFFECTIVE DATE. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage and approval according to law.

Visit Lake County and the Village of Deerfield have an ongoing marketing partnership to enhance the profile of Deerfield
and boost the visitor economy in your community. Below is a recap of the many touchpoints the Village of Deerfield has
received from its partnership with our organization the past 12 months. Thank you for your annual investment in our
tourism marketing program.
Visit Lake County Website
Our website is a rich resource for travelers, providing content, photos, videos and blogs about Lake County attractions
and events. The Village of Deerfield is highlighted in our community partner section with 23 business listings.
Visitor Map Guide
This publication serves as an inspirational, trip -planning piece. Visitors can download the guide from our website, plus
copies are distributed at our Lake Forest/1-94 Tollway Oasis kiosk, state welcome centers and other outlets along the I-
94 corridor. The village is called out on the map.
Blogs/Public Relations
We author weekly blogs on upcoming events and unique experiences in Lake County. Village of Deerfield events and
businesses were mentioned 42 times in our blogs the past 12 months. We also produce a monthly tourism e-newsletter
which has over 10,000 subscribers. Deerfield events and businesses were highlighted 18 times in newsletters.
Publicity for Local Events
In the past 12 months we listed 49 events in Deerfield on our website including the Deerfield Art Festival, summer
concerts at Floral Park, Food Truck Wednesdays, Family Days, Harvest Fest, Halloween activities, Deerfield Park District
activities and events, Deerfield's Tree Lighting and more.
Social Media/Digital Marketing
We are very active in social media marketing and promote community events and businesses through Facebook (64,000
followers), Twitter (7,300 followers) and Instagram (6,300 followers) plus Linkedin and TikTok. Deerfield events and
businesses were mentioned in 105 social media posts in the past 12 months. The Village of Deerfield was tagged in 98
posts and blogs. At the end of this document, you will find samples of some Deerfield social media mentions.
Group Business
Our sales team recruits meetings, tour groups, sports tournaments and other events for the county. In the past 12
months, our team steered 23 groups using 3,672 rooms to Deerfield hotels with an economic impact of $1,468,810. To
support hotels still recovering from the pandemic, we used ARPA Funds from Lake County to secure 9 of those groups
for Hyatt Deerfield, Embassy Suites and Courtyard Deerfield to help fill hotel rooms during need times. Our sales teams
also generated 82 referrals for future business opportunities with a total of over 15,000 hotel rooms and a value of
nearly $7 million in visitor spending.
Seasonal Marketing Campaigns
To support businesses and boost the tourism economy, we annually conduct marketing campaigns during the summer,
fall (Spooks & Spirits) and holidays. These campaigns include broadcast TV and radio, streaming video and audio, Google
Display and YouTube ads, Facebook and Instagram posts, newspaper inserts and special website landing pages focusing
on seasonal events. For each campaign we create a website landing page highlighting seasonal community events.

Lake County Flavor Festival February 1-29, 2024
The annual event showcases dining experiences around the county and helps attract
new diners and visitors. In 2024, we combined Lake County Restaurant Week and Lake
County Libation Trail into a month -long celebration of food and drinks. We funded a
multi -marketing campaign which included radio, YouTube videos, ads in the Daily Herald
and Chicago Tribune, Metra car cards, blogs and digital marketing — netting 15.7 million
impressions. Facebook and Instagram posts amassed 91,000 clicks and achieved 165,000
in social engagement.
The promotion includes a mobile check -in program with prizes to encourage diners to
try multiple eateries. We created a website landing page to highlight special offers.
Cadwell's Grille at Embassy Suites and Parkway Grill at Marriott Suites participated
which provided exposure for those hotels. Lake County restaurants experienced a 13%
increase in YOY spending during February and 82% of diners who completed our post -
event survey said they tried a new restaurant during Flavor Fest.
Partnership/Funding
As the official certified Destination Marketing Organization for the county, we are awarded a state tourism grant
annually. The grant funds are earmarked for sales and marketing initiatives to boost tourism and hotel stays, and must
be matched by local partners. Your investment of $35,830 is leveraged with other communities and industry partners
for a cost-effective regional marketing approach and helps ensure Visit Lake County receives its appropriate share of the
funds available through the Illinois Tourism Grant Program.
