R-66-01RESOLUTION NO. R -66 -1
WHEREAS, a petition of Mabel Hendrix has been filed with the
Zoning Board of Appeals of Lake County, to rezone the property at the
southeast corner of Deerfield and Saunders Road from the R -2 to the
B -1 classification to permit the construction and operation of a gas
station; and
WHEREAS, the said property lies within one and one -half miles
of the corporate limits of the Village of Deerfield:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the President and Board of
Trustees of the Village of Deerfield, Lake and Cook Counties, Illinois,
that:
The Village of Deerfield objects to and protests against the
classification of the above - described property as a B -1 District for
the following reasons:
I.* The proposed rezoning would constitute f°spot zoning" and
would have a detrimental effect on adjacent properties.
2. Existing gas stations are available in the Village of
Deerfield and at Deerfie -ld Road and Milwaukee Avenue, and
therefore no benefit to the public would result from an
additional gas station at the proposed location.
3. The proposed gas station would present an additional traffic
hazard to students who are provided school bus service to
and from this intersection.
4. The proposed use and classification are not in conformance
with the new Comprehensive Amendment to the Lake County
Zoning Ordinance, which classifies the subject property as
a Suburban Estate District.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a certified copy of this Resolution
be filed with the County Clerk of Lake County, in accordance with the
provisions of Chapter 34, Section 3185, Illinois Revised Statutes, and
with the Zoning Board of Appeals of Lake County.
