R-66-07RESOLUTION NO. R -66 -7
WHEREAS, more than five hundred legal voters of the Village of Deerfield
have petitioned for the holding of a special election for the purpose of
voting upon the question of establishing and maintaining a free public
library in the Village of Deerfield and the election of six library directors;
and
WHEREAS, it is recognized by competent authorities that good library
facilities are a prerequisite for the educati.on of good students and an
enlightened citizenry:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES
OF THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD, LAKE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS, that:
The Board looks with favor on the action of the petitioners in permitting
the voters to decide whether a Village library should be established;
The Board encourages a favorable vote by residents on April 23, 1966
for the establishment of a Village library which will be able to provide
facilities for the residents that are more nearly comparable with the
libraries in neighboring communities; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the President and Board of Trustees,
individually and collectively, favor the proposal.
