Y9 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE BUILDING CODE OF THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD, LAKE COUNTY, ILLINOIS, BY PROVIDING FOR LICENSES FOR CERTAIN BUILDING OCCUPATIONS BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD, LAKE COUNTY, ILLINOIS: SECTION 1: That the Building Code of the Village of Deerfield adopted under date of May 14, 1946, as amended, be, and the same is hereby, further amended as follows: That Article V, Construction Regulations, be amended by adding Sections 24(a)- (1) -(3), 24(b)- '(1) -(3), 24(c)- (1) -(4), 24(d) -(1), 24(e)- (1) -(3), 24(f) -(1)- (3),24(8)- (1) -(3), 24(h) -(1), such sections to be and read as follows: "24(a) -(1). Cement Contractors - License. No person shall engage in the business of cement contractor or the con- struction or repair of cement work within the village without first obtaining a license therefor. Application for such license shall be made and license shall be issued as provided in chapter 10 of the Municipal Code of the Village of Deerfield. 1124(a) -(2). Cement Contractors- License Fee. The annual fee for a cement contract t s lice �hllbe twenty -five dollars. "24(a) -(3). Cement ontractors -Bond. Before such license shall be issued, the applicant shall execute a surety bond running to the village, with a corporate surety, in the amount of five thousand dollars, conditioned to indemnify and keep harmless the village from any expense, liability, loss or damage resulting from the issuance of such license or from the work undertaken pursuant to said license, or the manner of doing the same. 1124(b) -(1). Electrical Contractors - Registration Required. No person shall engage in the business of electrical con- tractor within the village without first obtaining a cer- tificate of registration; provided, however, that if such person is already registered for the current year in another city or village of this State, as provided by State law, no registration in this village shall be required. 1124(b) -(2). Electrical Contractors - Registration - Application. Application for registry shall be made as provided in chapter 10 of the Municipal Code of the Village of Deerfield for licenses, insofar as the same is applicable. The - 2 - application shall be referred to the building commissioner; if he approves the application and so reports to the board of trustees, the applicant may then be registered as an electrical contractor,.and a certificate of registration shall be issued upon payment of the prescribed registration - fee. An excavating contractor is hereby defined as a person engaged in the business of excavating or removing dirt, rock, sand or any other substance in preparation for the construction of any building or of the basement or foundation of any building or other structure, or for the construction of any sewer, vault or other like work requiring such excavation or removal. "24(c) -(2). Excavating Contractors - License. No person shall engage in the business of excavating contractor within the village without first obtaining,& license therefor. Applica- tion for such license shall be made and license shall be issued as provided in chapter 10 of the Municipal Code of the Village of Deerfield. "24(c) -(3). Excavating Contractors - License Fee. The annual .fee for a license as excavating contractor shall be twenty - five dollars. 1124(c) -(4). Excavating Contractors -Bond. Before any license shall be issued, each excavating contractor shall execute a bond running to the village, with a corporate surety, in the amount of five thousand dollars, conditioned to indemnify and save the village harmless from any liability, loss or damage resulting from the work undertaken pur- suant to said license or the manner of doing the same. 1124(d) -(1). Heating and Ventilating Contractors - License -Fee. No person shall engage in the business of constructing or installing heating, ventilating or air - conditioning equip- ment without first obtaining a license therefor. Applica- tion for such license shall be made and license shall be issued as provided in chapter 10 of the Municipal Code of the Village of Deerfield. The annual fee for a license as heating, ventilating and air - conditioning contractor shall be twenty -five dollars. "24(e) -(1). Mason Contractors - License. No person shall engage in the business of mason contractor or employing mason within the village without first obtaining a license therefor. Application for such license shall be made and license shall be issued as provided in chapter 10 of the Municipal Code of the Village of Deerfield. "24(e) -(2). Mason Contractors- License Fee. The annual fee for,a license as mason contractor shall be twenty -five dollars. "24(e) -(3). Mason Contractors -Bond. Plumber Contractors - License. No person shall engage in the business of a plumber contractor or employing plumber within the village without first obtaining a license therefor. Application for such license shall be made and license shall be issued as provided in chapter 10 of the Municipal Code of the Village of Deerfield. 1124(f) -(2). Plumber Contractors- License Fee. The annual fee for a license as a plumber contractor shall be twenty -five dollars. "24(f) -(3). Plumber Contractors -Bond. Before any such license shall be issued, each plumber contractor or employing plumber shall execute a bond running to the village,with a corporate surety, in the amount of five thousand dollars; conditioned to indemnify and save the village harmless from any liability, loss, or damage resulting from any work undertaken pursuant to such license or the manner of doing the same. "24(g) -(1). Building Wreckers- License. No person shall engage in 'the � business of wrecking buildings within the village without first obtaining a license therefor. Applica- tion for such license shall be made and license shall be issued as provided in chapter 10 of the Municipal Code of the Village of Deerfield. "24(g) -(2). Building Wreckers - License Fee. The annual fee for a license as a building wrecker shall be twenty -five- dollars. "24(g) -(3). Building Wreckers -Bond. Before any such license shall be issued, each building wrecker shall execute a bond running to the village, with a corporate surety, in the amount of five thousand dollars, conditioned to indemnify and save the village harmless from any liability, loss.or damage resulting from any work undertaken pursuant to such license or the manner of doing the same. 1124(h) -(1). Revocation for Violation. Every license and permit issued by the village under this Section 24 shall be issued only upon the condition, whether so stated in the license or permit or not, that the president and board of trustees shall have the right to forfeit and revoke such license or permit, by resolution or otherwise, at any time, upon any violation by the person to whom the license or permit was issued, his servants or agents, of any provision of any ordinance of the village, of any applicable statute of this state, or for any other good cause duly found by the board, and on the basis of such violation the board may in its discretion refuse to issue a license for the same purpose to the violator in any subsequent year. Provided, that upon the revocation of any such license or permit for any cause the president and board of trustees may, in their discretion, return a part of the fee already paid for such license or permit, proportionate to the unexpired term of- such license or permit." • - 4 - PASSED this 10th day of April, 1950.
