BE IT ORDAINED by the President and Board of Trustees of the
Village of Deerfield, that:
Section 1. Ordinance No. 79, passed the 12th day of November, 1951,
be and is hereby amended to read as follows:
111. A SAFETY COUNCIL be appointed by the President with the consent
of the Board of Trustees, said Safety Council to consist of twelve (12)
members, who are residents of the Village of Deerfield.
112. Said Safety Council shall be composed of the following members:
(a) One member from each grade school, namely; Deerfield Grammar,
Wilmot, Maplewood, and Holy Cross, who shall be recommended by the respective
school board, P.T.A., or Mothers' Club.
(b) One member from the Chamber of Commerce,'who shall be recom-
mended by that body.
(c) One member from the Junior Chamber of Commerce, who shall be
recommended by that body.
(d) One secretary, from the Village at large.
(e) Five members from the Village at large, selection of said
members to be based upon the geographical sections of the Village.
113. TERM OF APPOINTMENT
(a) All members shall be appointed for a period of two (2) years.
(b) Any member may be re- appointed for additional terms.
114. PURPOSE AND FUNCTION OF COMMISSION:
The purpose of said Council shall be to function in an advisory
capacity to the Board of Trustees. It shall study safety problems apper-
taining to the village, and make its findings and recommendations to the
Board of Trustees through the Village Manager, for official action by the
Board.
115. A Chairman and Vice - Chairman shall be elected by the twelve (12)
members comprising said council. The Chairman shall preside at the
meetings of the commission and direct its functions.. In the absence of
the Chairman, the Vice Chairman shall preside and exercise all the powers
of the Chairman.
116. The tenure of the Council shall be perpetual unless dissolved
by official action of the Board of Trustees. A member of the Council may
be removed by action of the Board of Trustees, in which case he shall hold
office until his successor is appointed and qualified.
117. Seven members of said council shall.constitute a quorum. Where
a quorum is present, official action of the council shall be determined by
a majority of the members present.'
Section 2. This ordinance shall be in force from and after its
passage and approval.
