R-65-12RESOLUTION R -65- 12 WHEREAS House Bill 1374 has been introduced in the Illinois General Assembly and has been referred to the Municipalities Committee for hearing; and WHEREAS said Bill will permit the creation and operation of Refuse Disposal Commissions, with broad powers of financing and land aquisition, including the right of eminent domain; and WHEREAS the Village of Deerfield has heretofore opposed the provisions of said Bill by resolution duly adopted and filed with the North Suburban Council on Refuse Disposal, the originators of said Bill: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Deerfield, Lake and Cook Counties, Illinois, that: The Village of Deerfield opposes House Bill 1374 for the following reasons: 1. Present laws permit two or more municipalities to join together for the acquisition and operation of refuse disposal facilities, and therefore the provisions of House Bill 1374 are unnecessary. 2. Present refuse disposal facilities are adequate to serve the North Suburban, area for fifteen years, and no emergency exists which would require additional legislation to meet a need for such faci Ii ties. 3. House Bill 1374, with other bills pertaining to refuse disposal including Senate Bill 800 and House Bill 1375, will tend to be detrimental to the health, welfare and preservation of property values in the Village of Deerfield. 4. The President and Board of Trustees are opposed to the creation of more governmental bodies. and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be filed with the Municipalities Committee of the 74th General Assembly in order that proper weight may be given to the Village of Deerfield's objection to House Bill 1374.
