03/03/1915MAY 3 1915 Regular meeting of the Board of Trustees'of the Village of Deerfield was called to order by the Clerk at 8:30 p.m. In the absence of the President, W. A. Zhiting, it was moved by Trustee Reay and seconded by Trustee Kress that Trustee Pettis act as chairman. Carried. Roll call: Present- Horenberger, Juhrendj.Pettis, Reay, Kress. Absent-- Fritach. (loved by Trustee Kress and seconded by Trustee Juhrend that the reading of the minutes be deferred until next meeting. Carried. Trustee Reay, Chairman of the Finance Committee, reported that the committee had not been able to make a full report, but would do so at the next meeting. Report of the Marshal, Goo. Herman, was read and ordered placed 'on file. Letter from Mr. Dillon of Detroit, Michigan, asking for information on UniversalPipe was referred to Trustee Reay. Report of S. P. Hutchinson, Police Magistrate, for fines collected from May 1, 1914 to flay 19 1915, and amounting to 4187.55 was read. (loved by Trustee Reay and seconded by Trustee Kress that the report be accepted and placed on file. Carried. (loved by Trustee Kress and seconded by Trustee Juhrend that the amount collected by the Police Magistrate be credited to the Road and Bridge Fund. Carried. Report of C. W.' Pettis, Justice of the Peace, for fines collected froaa May 19 1914 to May '1, 1915, and amounting to 411.00 was read. Moved by Trustee Kress and seconded by Trustee Horenberger that the report be accepted and placed on file, and that the amount be placed to the credit of the Road and Bridge Fund. Carried. The report of the Canvassing Board on the Village Election held on April 20, 1915, reported that the following officers had been duly elected, was read. For President: W. A. Whiting; Clerk, Theo. J. Knaak; Trustees, 7�r L. Hempstead, .J. A. Reichelt, C. W. Pettis. Moved by Trustee Reny and seconded by Trustee Horenberger that the Board do now adjourn sine die. Carried. Mr. Kress,being the only retiring member present, was requested try the chair to escort the newly elected members to their seats. The new Board was then called to order by the Clerk. In the absence of the President, T. A..Whiting, it was moved by Trustee Juhrend and seconded by Trustee Pettit that Trustee Reny act as, Chairman. Carried. Roll cell: Present - Hempstead, Horenberger, Juhrend, Pettis, Remy, Reichelt. Absent - -None. The appointment of the following committees by the President were road: FINANCE: Reny, Hempstead, Reichelt. JUDICIAkY: Reichelt, Reay, Pettia. ROADS AIM PUBLIC ILPi•DVEhI=S: Pettis, Horenberger, Hempstead. LICENSE;. Hempstead, Juhrend, Reichelt. PRINTING AND AUDITING: Horenberger, Juhrend, Reny. HEALTH AND COUNTY RELATIONS: Juhrend, Hempstead, Horenberger. .. Moved by Trustee Reichelt and seconded by Trustee Hempstead, that the salary of Geo. Herman as Marshal be increased to $75.00 per month. Upon roll- call the following vote was taken: Yeas -- Hempstead, Horenberger, Juhrend, Reny, Reichelt. Nays - -None. Trustee Pettis present but .not voting. • Loved by Trustee Pettis and seconded by Trustee Horenberger that the Clerk be instructed to notify Mr. rtA that unless the two holes on his property are filled within 30 days, the Board idll take the matter into their oun hands. Carried. i The bill of the Deerfield Lumber Co. was referred to the Chairman of the Street Committee to take the matter up with Mr. Duffy.
