A''regular meeting of the President and the Board of
Trustees of the Village of'Deerfield was called to order by
the President C. M. Millman at 8 P. M. with the following
trustees present : — Hertel, Palmer, Peterson, Potteriger,
�— Schneider and Stupple. Absent— None.
The diriut'es of 'the 'regular meeting held July 13, 1937
and the special meeting held July 16, 1937 were read and
approved.
The Auditor's report for the three months period end -
ing July 31, 1937 was read and a motion was made by Trustee
Hertal.and seconded by Trustee Schneider that the same be
r,:Haccepted.
Roll call resulted as follows. Yeas— All. Naye-
None. Motion carried.
An ordinance for the levy of taxes for the current
fiscal year beginning May 1, 1937, and ending'April 30,
.."1938'was read and it was moved by Trustee Pottenger and
seconded by Trustee Stupple that the'tax levy ordinances;
be, adopted as read.
• Motion unanimously carried. Those,voti4g "Aye" being
:Trustee Hertel, Palmer, Peterson, Pottenger, Schneider and
Stupple. Those voting IINaytl being None.
AN ORDINANCE FOR THE LEVY OF TAXES FOR THE CURRENT
FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING MAY lst, 1937, -AND ENDING
APRIL 30th, 1938.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES
OF THE .VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD, -LAKE COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION 1. That the.sum of $31;895.00;" this sum being
the -total amount of all appropriations for special and cor-
porate fund purposes legally made, and to be collected from
the` -tax levy of the fiscal year beginning May 1st, 1937, and
ending April 30th, 1938, shall be and the same is.hereby
t" 'levied on'all 'property subject to taxation within the Village
of Deerfield as the.said.property is assessed for state and
county purposes for the current year.
SECTION 2. The purposes for which said levy•is made, and
the sum and amount levied for each purpose respectively are as

CORPORATION COUNSEL.
An ordinance relative to the operation of pinball machines
in.the Village of Deerfield was read and a motion was made by
Trustee Peterson and seconded by Trustee Pottenger that this
ordinance be adopted.
Roll call resulted as follows. Yeas— Trustee Hertel,
Palmer, Peterson, Pottenger, Schneider and Stupple. Nays— None.
Motion carried.

THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD, LAKE COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION 1. No person, firm, corporation, society, club
or association shall keep and maintain for gain or profit in any
place of public resort, either as owner, licensee, manager,
officer or agent, any pinball machine or game, or any other

similar type of game or machine in which any ball, sphere,

missile, arm, crane,appliance rod or lun e
p g r is struck, released,
i impelled, controlled or manipulated, directly or indirectl

the purpose of amusement or test of skill, unless such person,
firm, corporation, society, club or association shall have first
obtained a license for such purpose.
SECTION 2. Application to maintain such device shall be
1 made with the Village Collector of said Village for license
! therefor, stating the full name and address of the applicant
and giving the name of the owner thereof where said machine or

device is to be used and maintained. Examination of said
application may be made by the Chief of the Police of said
Village to determine that the applicant is of good moral
character and the premises in which it Is
I proposed that such
machine, game or device be operated is one of public resort
and not habituated by criminals, felons, vagrants or persons
having police records of crime or offenses involving moral
purpitude.

SECTION 3. For each machine so operated, applicant shall

pay a license fee in the amount of One Hundred Twenty (120.00)
Dollars per year, payable at the rate of Ten ($10.00) Dollars
per month on the first of each and every month beginning
September first. Such monthly payments shall be concurrently
j paid and the fee considered as an entire fee for the year and

j no credit allowed for vacancies in any month'for failure on the

.part'of said licensee to operate. License for the current year

will expire on the 30th day of April, 1938, and further licenses
shall be applied for within ten days after such expiration. There
shall be no rebate or refund of any'license and such license shall
be non-assignable and non-transferable and apply only to the
I premises for which such license is issued.
SECTION 49 The wagering of moneys, goods or merchandise
for gambling upon the-butcome of such test of skill or amusement
or the manipulation of such game, machine or device is expressly
prohibited and shall . constitute a violation of this ordinance and

relieved as Chairman of the License Committee and the Police
and Fire Committee owing to his new duties at the office was
