April 18, 1935.
A special meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Village
of Deerfield for the purpose of canvassing the returns of the
Village Election held April -16, 1935 was called to order by
Trustee Harry E. Wing as chairman pro tem.
Roll call:— Present- Trustee Page, Peterson, Pottenger,
Scribner, Willman and Wing. Absent President Harry T. Clavey.
The tabulated statement of returns as made by the Can-
vassing Board shows the following number of votes cast for the
various candidates.

for four years, William A. Bickford; Trustees for two years,
George J. `Page, Ralph S. Peterson, Marshall A. Pottenger,
Christian M. Willman, Carleton -S. Scribner and Monroe H. McKillip.
The roll call resulted as follows:- Yeas- Trustee Page,
Peterson, Pottenger, Scribneri aiid- lWillman . Nays- None. Carried.

A regular meeting of the President and the Board of Trustees
of the Village of Deerfield was called.to order by the President
Harry T. Clavey at 8 P. M. with the following trustees present -:
Page, Peterson, Pottenger, Scribner, Willman and tiling. Absent
None.
The minutes of the regular meeting which was held on April
1, 1935 were read and approved.
A report from the Health Officer, Dr. C. Johnston Davis was
read. During the past month there were only three cases of measles,
two of.mumps and several minor cases of German measles. The health
conditions are unusually good.
The Auditor's report for the period from May 1, 1934 to April
20, 1935 and also comparative balance sheets of the Corporate Assets
and Liabilities as of April 20, 1935 and April 30, 1933 were read
by the Auditor Albert L Roderick. The Surblus Account shows an
increase of $5,173.41 as compared with April 30; 1933.

the Auditor's Report be accepted as read. Roll call resulted as
follows Yeas- All. Nays -None. Motion carried.
Due to the fact that Corporation'Counsel McGaughey was ap-
pointed to the office of Corporation Counsel for the City of Wau-
kegan, was unable to be present, Mr. White who represented
him, read his report. He thanked the president, trustees and
employees of the village for their co- operation during the past
two years. He referred to some of the matters which came up
during the past two years, among which was the suit on behalf
of the bondholders against the village and that evidently they
are satisfied that Deerfield is doing all that it can toward the
retirement of these bonds and the payment of its indebtedness,
as they have made no further move for more than a year.

The retiring President Harry T. Clavey then thanked the
members of the Board for their fine spirit of co- operation
during the past two years and announcecl,,,,,t^,hat it gave him a
great deal of pleasure to turn the gavelAto the newly -
elected President Harry E. Wing and wished for him much suc-
cess during his term of office.
The President Harry E. Wing called the new Board of
Trustees of ,the Village of Deerfield to order„9 P. I.T.
.Roll call:- Present- Trustee McKillip, Page, Peterson,
Pottenger, Scribner and Willman. Absent- None.
President Harry E. Wing in his remarks brought out the
fact that the reports in closing out the administration
under President Clavey have indicated that the President and
the Board worked in harmony for the best interests of the
Village of Deerfield.
The following statement of the Village Organization in-
cluding the appointments for the ensuing term as made by the
President Harry E. Wing were read by the clerk.
Finance Committee

The Finance Committee will have in its charge all
financial matters, including financial statements, budgets, etc.
They will approve, subject to the approval of the Village
Board, all village expenditures.
Health and Public Relations Committee

The Health and Public Relations Committee will have
in.its charge all matters.pertainitg to general health condi-
tions in the Village and those concerning public relations.
Judiciary Committee -

The Judiciary Committee will be charged with the duty
of recommending to the Board the drafting of ordinances as well
as any necessary legal work in connection therewith.
License Committee.

The License Committee. will be charged with the;duty
of recommending to the Board the issuance of licenses, permits,
etc., as well as making certain that collections are made on
same.
Auditing and Printin# Committee

The Auditing and Printing Committee will be charged
with.the duty of recommending to the Board'any necessary aud-
iting.work', as well as printing, advertising, etc.
Public Works Committee

The Public Works Committee will be charged with the
duty of supervising ,.operating, and maintaining properties
belonging to the Village other than those specifically:pro-
vided herein to be under the.jurisdiction of other commit-

The Road and Bridge Committee will be charged with the
general maintenance and upkeep of all streets and roads, road
equipment, and bridges and the cleaning of streets and sidewalks.
Water Committee

The Water Committee will have charge of the construction,
operation, and maintenance of all water,mains and the operation
and maintenance of meters and other related equipment. They will
recommend to the Board, any changes in rates for water, and will
make certain that water bills are collected as promptly as pos-
