A regular meeting of the President and the Board of Trustees
of the Village of Deerfield was called -to order by the President
Harry T. Clavey at S P. M.
Roll call- Present- Trustees Page Peterson, Pottenger
Willman and Wing. Absent- Trustee Scrlbner.
The minutes of the special meeting held August - 21,.1934 were
read and approved.
Trustee-Peterson Chairman of the License Committee reported
$79.00 collected for 1934 dog licenses and $1624.25 for Vehicle
licenses to date. Two trucks and four passenger cars are still to
be collected for. .
Trustee.Pottenger explained how men were being- employed to
watch the crossing at the intersection of- Waukegan Road 'and-Deer-
field Avenue-while children were going and coming from school and
also how others were being employed to clean streets and catch
basins from monies received through the Bogardus Act. He also
stated.that men would be stationed on the crossing at the Wilmot
School.
A letter from the Public Relations Committee of West Deer-
field Township requesting additional protection for the- children
crossing the-street at the intersection od Waukegan Road and Deer -
field Avenue -while going to and returning from school was read
and it was requested that this committee be advised that the same
is being taken care of'through monies acquired through the
Bogardus Act.
Trustee- Pottenger reported as to the progress being made.in
connection with the telephone situation and the President Harry
T. Clavey gave him full power to act for the village board and
if necessary•to, make further recommendations to the Board. *
Moved by Trustee Willman and seconded by Trustee Page that
the preamble -to be used in connection with the publication of
the delinquent special assessment list as presented be adopted.
The roll call resulted as follows. Yeas- Truetee'Page,
Peterson, Pottenger, Willman and Wing. days - None. 'Motion
carried.
Chief of Police McLaughlin reported $71.00 in fines collected
during the month of August.
Trustee-Wing stated that the Treasurer had.-been requested to
write to the - various Insurance companies asking that they remit
the tax, which is two per cent of all premiums colleeted.in the
village during the past year. - • V
The Board was informed by Trustee Wing that the village x;. -. =
records were-not protected from damage by fire and suggested that "
a fireproof vault be built. The President Harry Clavey appointed
Trustees Page and Pottenger to meet with the Board of Directors
of the Deerfield. Temple Association to aseertaln'if- satisfaotory
arrangements could be made to erect such a vault:

Section 2. That whoever removes or causes to be removed

dirt from the property within the Village of Deerfield and there-
by leaves holes or uneven surfaces on such property, so as to
permit the accumulation of water that may become stagnant, shall
be punished by a fine of not less than Five (05.00) Dollars nor
more than Two Hundred ($200.00) Dollars for each offense, and

each day that such person shall permit said property to be and,
remain in said condition shall be deemed a separate and distinct
offense.
Section 3. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect j ,
