The regular meeting of the President and the Board of
Trustees -of the Village of Deerfield was called to order by the
President Robert S. Alexander at 8 P. M. and the following
trustees responded to the roll call: Bradt, Cazel, Mercurio,
Scott and Tennis.•-Absent- Trustee Stanger.
The minutes of the meeting held May 10, 1945 were read and
a,motiozi.was made by Trustee Mercurio and seconded by Trustee
Cazel that these minutes be approved as read'.

A motion was made by Trustee Tennis and duly seconded by

to make a check -up of- =Deerfield's ornamental lighting system and
to locate any shorts which may exist and have the same repaired.

President Alexander appointed D. J. L'. Walther as City
Engineer and a motion was made by Trustee Mercurio and seconded
by Trustee Tennis that this appointment be confirmed by the
Board of Trustees.

Mercurio, Scott and Tennis. Nays - None. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Trustee Tennis and duly seconded by
Trustee Cazel that the plat submitted by Owen Martin for a
subdivision to be known as "Deerfield Gardens" east of the
Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad and north of
Greenwood Avenue be referred to the Plan Commission with
instructions that-,they bear in mind that at present the high
,ground on the north side of Greenwood Avenue and just east
of the Milwaukee right of way is a crossing hazard.

Robert Ramsay brought up the matter of the condition.of
Meadowbrook Lane and requested that this street be repaired by
the Village. I
It was moved by Trustee Mercurio and seconded by Trustee
Tennis that this be referred to the Road and Bridge Committee
and they are to` confer with Village Attorney Seago relative to
the legal status of this street.
Roll call resulted as follows. Yeas Trustee Bradt, Cazel,
Mercurio, Scott and Tennis. Nays- None. Motion carried.
Trustee Tennis gave a report on the finances of the
Skating Rink and the Chairman Alexander with the consent of
the Board appointed Wm. D. Johnston, Albert S. Arentz and.P.
Allen Tennis as the Skating Rink Committee for the coming year
and Mr. Tennis is to serve as Treasurer of this committee.
Trustee Mercurio made a motion that Public Works Super
intendent Johnston be authorized to purchase sewer rods, -etc.
at a cost not to exceed $100.00. This motion was seconded by
