08/11/1942160 It was moved by Trustee Benz and seconded by Trustee Mercurio that the President Victor E. Carlson be appointed a Committee -of -One to negotiate with the Deerfield- Bannockburn Fire District for the sale of our fire equipment. Roll call resulted as follows. Yeas- Trustee Benz, Cazel, Mercurio, Scott and Stanger. Nays - None. Motion carried. A motion was made by Trustee Stanger that stray dogs which have bitten anyone shall be impounded at Dr. Erwin's Animal Hospital at the rate of 75g per day, provided that the owner can- not be found. Motion seconded by Trustee Cazel. Upon roll call the following vote was taken. Yeas- Trustee Benz, Cazel, Scott -and Stanger. Nays- None. 1.9otion carried. The regular meeting of the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Deerfield was. called to order by the President Victor E. Carlson at 8 P. M. Roll call- Present - Trustee Benz, Cazel, Mercurio, Scott and Stanger. Absent- Trustee Crush. The minutes of the regular meeting held July 14, 1942 were read and approved. A motion was made by Trustee Cazel and seconded by Trustee Stanger that the following resolution be adopted:- _ BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Village of Deerfield, Illinois, purchase and erect stop -signs to be used where the following four streets intersect Greenwood Avenue, in the Village of Deerfield, Illinois: Park Avenue Chestnut Street - Oakley Avenue and Broadmoor Place. Upon roll call the following vote was taken. Yeas- Trustee Benz, Cazel, Mercurio, Scott and Stanger. Nays - None. Motion. carried. Trustee Cazel made a motion that ;.the well on the premises Y of Mrs. Charles Dattilo, (which has become a hazard) must be filled as, if and when. waste materials are available. Motion seconded by Trustee Stanger. Roll call resulted as follows. Yeas - Trustee Benz, Cazel, • Mercurio, Scott and Stahger. Nays- None. Motion carried. Moved by Trustee Benz and seconded by Trustee Mercurio that -a second notice be sent to current water users whose bills are still in arrears.that unless satisfactory settlement is made by August 25th their water will be shut off. AN ORDINANCE CONCERNING SMOKE IN THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD, LAKE COUNTY, ILLINOIS BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD, LAKE COUNTY, ILLINOIS, THAT: SECTION 1: It shall be unlawful to cause or permit the emission of dense smoke from any fire, chimney, engine, oil burner, or any other agency in the Village of Deerfield, Illinois, so as to`cause annoyance or discomfort to the residents thereof. SECTION 2: For the purpose of testing and grading the density of smoke. the Ringelmann Smoke Chart as published and used by the United States Geological Survey shall be, and is hereby adopted as a standard for such grading, and smoke shall be and is hereby declared to be "dense" _.when -it is of a degree of -number., three of the said Chart, or greater, for more than six minutes in any one hour, whether such period of time is consecu- tive or not. SECTION 3: Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the provisions of this Ordinance shall be fined not less than One Dollar nor more than One Hundred Dollars for each offense; and a separate offense shall a be deemed committed on each and every day during or on which a violation occurs or is permitted to continue. SECTION 4: This Ordinance shall be published in an official newspaper of Deerfield, Lake County, Illinois, according to law. SECTION 5: This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication, in accordance with the Law.
