07/14/1942July 14, 1942. The regular meeting of the President and Board of Trustees of the,Village of Deerfield was called to order by the President Victor E. Carlson.at 8 P. M., . The following responded to the roll call; Trustee Benz, Cazel, Mercurio, Scott and Stanger. Absent- Trustee Crush. The minutes of the regular meeting held June 9, 1942 and of the special mee.ting held June 15, 1942 were read and approved. A motion was made by Trustee Cazel and seconded'by Trustee Stanger that Truster Cazel be authorized to take whatever steps are necessary to remedy the condition existing at the Rockenbach driveway at 550 Elm St. Roll call resulted as follows. Yeas- Trustee Benz, Cazel, Mercurio, Scott and Stanger. Nays- None. Motion carried. A motion was made by Trustee Benz that we authorize the purchase of 24 -5/8 x 3/4 Water Meters. Motion seconded by Trustee Mercurio. . Upon roll.call the following vote was taken. Yeas - .Trustee Benz, Cazel, Mercurio, Scott and Stanger. Nays- None. Motion carried. It was moved by, Trustee Benz and seconded by Trustee Mercurio that.the Collector be instructed to make no allowances for leaks occurring b@yond the water meter.. , Roll call resulted as follows. Yeas- All. Nays- None. Motion carried. , Moved by. Trustee Benz and seconded by Trusteq Mercurio that delinquent water users be notified to pay or make some suitable arrangement to pay past due bills within 15 days or their-names will be posted and,if not paid within 30 days or ?uitable arrange- ment made then the water will be shut off without further notice. Motion unanimously carried. Those voting "Aye" being Trustee Benz, Cazel, Mercurio, Scott and Stanger. Those voting "Nay" being None. The following bills were read and it was moved by Trustee Stanger and seconded by Trustee Benz that these bills be approved for_payment on receipt of the proper funds. A motion was made by Trustee Scott and duly seconded by Trustee Stanger-that Chief of Police McLaughlin and Night Officer Anderson be granted vacations and that they make their own arrangements. Motion carried. Those voting !'Aye" being Trustee Benz, Cazel, Mercurio, Scott and Stanger. Those voting "Nay" being None. by Trustee Cazel It was moved /that the C. M. St. P. & P. Ry. Co. be notified to take care of the crossing at Greenwood Avenue. Seconded by Trustee Roll call. Yeas- All. Nays- None. Motion carried. Benz. Moved by Trustee Cazel and seconded by Trustee Benz that Trustee Cazel, Scott, Health Officer Davis and Police Chief McLaughlin make an inspection of the premises at 862 Waukegan Road and if unsanitary conditions exist have same corrected. Upon roll call the following vote was taken. -Yeas- Trustee Benz, Cazel, Mercurio, Scott and Stanger. Nays- None. Motion carried. , A motion was made by Trustee Cazel and seconded by Trustee Stanger that the police commissioner instruct the police department to be more vigilant in enforcing proper parking in the village. Roll call. Yeas- All. Nays--None. Motion carried. Estimate No. 4v-in favor of Peter Baker & Son Co. in the amount of 36,313.00 for the improvement of Greenwood Avenue Arterial Street No. 2 was read and it was moved by Trustee Cazel and seconded by Trytstee Stanger that this estimate be approved for payment out of Motor Fuel Tax'Funds. ._, Upon roll call the following vote was taken. Yeas- Trustee Benz, Cazel, Mercurio, Scott and Stanger.. Nays - None. Motion carried. Moved by Trustee Stanger and seconded by Trustee Cazel that Mr. J. A. Blow be notified to fill, cover or otherwise protect _ the basement recently excavated on County Line Road and which at the present time is filled with water and a serious hazard. Roll call resulted as follows. Yeas- Trustee Benz, Cazel, Mercurio, Scott and-Stanger. Nays- None. Motion carried.
