04/09/194070 April 91 1940. The regular meeting of the President and the Board of Trustees of the Village of Deerfield was called to order by the-,President C. M. Skillman .at 8 P. M. Roll call. Present— Trustee Cazel, Cole, Palmer, Pottenger and Schneider. Absent.— Trustee Crush. The minutes of the-regular meeting held March 12, 1940 were read and approved. I;, The minutes•of the special meeting held March 26, 1940 were read and approved as corrected. The following bills.were read and it was moved by Trustee Cole and seconded by Trustee Schneider that these bills be approved for payment on receipt of proper funds. Roll call resulted as follows. Olson---------------------- - - - - -- 28.7511 A motion was'made by Trustee Cazel and.seconded�by Trustee Palmer to adopt the.resolution requesting additional funds in'the amount of Nine Hundred Ninopy Three and 35/100 ($993.35) Dollarsfrom the Division of Highways, (Motor Fuel' Tax Fund)-for the completion ° of Arterial, Streets No. 11, { 1.2 and 13. Roll call resulted as follows. Those voting "Aye" being Trustee Cazel, Cole, Palmer, Pottenger and Schneider. Those voting "Nay" being None. Motion carried. Justice of,the Peace Todd submitted his report showing that the'sum of One Hundred Seven Dollars had been collected in fines for Ordinance violations from Februq•ry 23, 1940 to March 26, 1940. It was moved by Trustee Cole and seconded by Trustee .Palmer to allow an expenditure up to $50.00 for repair of sewer in East Deerfield Road. ii In �i 'I III 11 Ili n1114111 "IP V In n - . 1e I .11 "In n In ," 71 Motion unanimously carried. Those-voting "Aye" being Trustee Cazel, Cole, Palmer, Pottenger and Schneider. Those voting "Nay" being None. A contract for Street Lighting, Rate 105 was submitted by the Public Service Co.: of Northern Illinois covering service for a Five Year Period and a motion was made by Trustee Pottenger and seconded by Trustee Cole to accept this contract as presented and that the President be authorized to sign same and thabe ,.attested to by the Village Clerk. Roll call resulted as follows. Yeas- Trustee Cazel, Cole, Palmer, Pottenger and Schneider. Nays- None. Motion carried. The Liquor Ordinance passed at the regular meeting of the Village Board, March 12, 1940 but vetoed by the President - was brought up for the purpose of passing the same over the President's veto. A motion was made by Trustee Schneider and seconded-by Trustee Cole that the Liquor Ordinance be passed as read. Upon roll call the following vote was taken. Yeas - Trustee Cazel, Cole and Schneider. Nays- Trustee Palmer and Sehne#-de•r. Motion lost for the want of a two thirds majority. iJ'OT raIV The Liquor Ordinance was then read as a new ordinance and a motion was made by Trustee Schneider and seconded by Trustee Cole to pass the ordinance as read. Roll call resulted as follows. Yeas- Trustee Cazel, Cole and Schneider. Nays- Trustee Palmer and Pottenger. i Motion carried and again vetoed by the President. " Moved by Trustee Schneider and seconded by Trustee Pottenger that Trustees Pottenger, Cazel, Palmer, Schneider, Village Attorney Olson, Erwin Seago and E. F. Nelson, President J of the Civic Association act as a committee for the purpose of revising the ordinances of the Village of Deerfield.. Motion unanimously carried. Those voting "Aye" being Trustee Cazel, Cole, Palmer. Pottenger and Schneider. Those voting "Nay" being None. Motion made by Trustee Cazel and seconded by Trustee Cole that the following resolution be adopted. BE IT RESOLVED, that June 14, 1940 is hereby proclaimed official Deerfield Citizenship Recognization Day and that the President of the Board of Trustees of the Village of Deerfield assume the responsibility of official representation on the Executive Committee for Deerfield Citizenship Recognition Day. Upon roll call the following vote was ta$en..' Yeas - Trustee Cazel, Cole, Palmer, Pottenger and Schneider. Nays- None. Motion carried. At this time Village Attorney Olson thanked.the scholars from the Deerfield Grammar School for their attendance and hoped that they received some enlightenment from the meeting. It was moved by Trustee Cole and duly seconded by ..Trustee Pottenger that Water Superintendent Johnston be allowed,to spend up to $100.00 for necessary improvements to the watermains in Waukegan Road prior tm the laying of concrete. Roll call resulted as follows. Those voting "Aye" being Trustee Cazel, Cole, Palmer and Pottenger. Trustee Schneider- Not voting. Motion carried. Moved, seconded and carried to adjourn.
