October 10, 1939.
The regular meeting of the President and the Board of
Trusteed of the Village of Deerfield was called-to order by
the President C. M. Willman at 8 :15 with the following
• trustees responding to roll call; Cazel, Cole, Crush, Palmer,
Pottenger and Schneider.' Absent- None.
The minutes of our regular me.eting held September 12, 1939
were read and with the insertion of an addition to read "Motion
made by Trustee Palmer to accept proposition as submitted by
Cyrus Fritsch. Motion lost for $he want of a 'recandn was
approved.
The minutes of our special meeting held September 19,
1939 were read and approved with the following addition to
motion relative to forfeiture of $100.00 Cash Bond by Cassius
Easton to the Village of Deerfield, "and by his own admission
he was violating the liquor ordinance which was a.justifica-
tion for the forfeiture of his bond ".
A motion was made by Trustee Cole and seconded by Trustee
Pottenger that we authorize the expenditure of not to exceed
Eighty five ($85.00) Dollars for the repairing and laying of
cable for the damaged lighting system in Briarwoods Subdivision.
Roll call resu ted as follows. Yeas- Trustee Cazel, Cole,
Crush, Palmer, Pottenger and Schneider. Nays- None. Motion
carried.
The following bills were read and a motion was made by
Trustee Cole and seconded by Trustee Pottenger that these bills
be paid upon receipt of the proper funds.

A motion was made by Trustee Cole and seconded by
Trustee Cazel authorizing the Water Department to purchase
six water meters.
Roll call resulted as follows. Yeas— Trustee Cazel,
Cole, Crush, Palmer, Pottenger and Schneider, Nays— None.
Motion carried.
It was moved by Trustee. Pottenger and seconded by
.Trustee Crush that Conrad Uchtman be appointed as Fire Chief
for the ensuing year.

Moved by Trustee Pottenger and duly seconded by Trustee
Crush that the Board authorize the payment of Two hundred

A letter from the Sheridan Rifle and Pistol Club re-
questing permission for a Rifle Range i,n the Village Limits
of Deerfield was read and referred to the License Committeb.'
The following ordinance regulating the operation of a
taxicab or. taxicabs in the Village of Deerfield,, Lake County,
Illinois, was read and a motion was made by Trustee Schneider
and seconded by Trustee Cole that.this ordinance be passed-as
read.

A motion was.made by Trustee Cazel and duly seconded by
Trustee Pottenger that a top and cover be purchased for the
catch basin at the corner of Woodland -Drive and Crabtree Lane
in Woodland Park.
Motion unanimously carried. Those voting "Aye" being

It was moved by Trustee Cazel and seconded by Trustee
Pottenger that the resolution for the payment of bills owed
by the Village for sod purchased for use in sodding a portion
.of the drainage ditch(Central Ave. Ditch) on State Aid Route
11 Extension, Deerfield Road, adopted September 12, 1939 be
rescinded and that the resolution as submitted by the Division
of Highways,(Motor Fuel Tax Division) Otate of Illinois be
adopted.

A motion was made by Trustee Cazel and seconded by
Trustee Cole that the resolution designating certain street
as Arterial Streets, adopted September 19, 1939 be rescinded
and that the following resolution be adopted.
BE IT RESOLVED by the'President and Board of Trustees of
the Village of Deerfield that the following described streets
be designated as Arterial Streets, subject to the approval
o.f the Department of Public Works and Buildings, State of
Illinois.
Beginning at Osterman Avenue and extending along Elm Street
in a southerly direction to the Industrial Section, to be
known as Arterial Street No. 11.
Beginning at Hazel Avenue and extending along Cedar,;Juniper,
Arbor Vitae and Pine Streets in a southerly direction to
Deerfield Road, to be known as Arterial Street No. 12.
Beginning at Greenwood Avenue and extending along Oakley
Avenue in a southerly direction to-Hazel Avenue, to be
known as Arterial Street- No. -13.
Motion unanimously carried. Those voting "Aye" being

A resolution for--Maintenance of State Bond Issue Route
42 -A consisting-of repairs and furnishing electric.power for
the traffic signals at the intersectioan of State Aid-Route 11
and State Bond Issue Route 42 -A to the-extent-of $290.00 was

It was moved by Trustee Crush and duly seconded by
Trustee Cole that the Clerk be instructed to write to Ernest
Lieberman, Chie-f Highway Engineer requesting that the traffic
signs in Deerfield and Waukegan -Roads which have recently been
moved, be returned to-their original- -places and that they
have a - representative confer with the Village Board regarding
traffic signs at the - Wilmot School.

Cole that the-salary--of-Alfred Anderson shall be One hundred
five ($105.00): Dollars -per month,--payable one -half on the
15th of the month and the other half on the last day of the
month.
