08/08/193946 August 8, 1939. The regular meeting of the President and the Board of Trustees of the Village of Deerfield was called to order by the President 0. M. Millman at 8 P. M. Present- Trustee Cazel, Cole, Crush, Palmer, Pottenger and Schneider. Absent- None. The minutes of our regular meeting held July 11, 1939 were read and approved. The following bills were read and it was moved by Trustee Cole and seconded by Trustee Palmer that these bills be approved for payment on receipt of proper funds. Roll call resulted as follows. Barrett------ - - - - -- 59.58 t l Trustee Palmer made a motion that Anthony J. Mercurio and Kenneth J. Weir be appointed as members of the Zoning and Planning Commission for,.-the years 1939 to 1944. Motion seconded by Trustee Pottenger. Roll oall: resulted as follows. Yeas- Trustee Cazel, Cole, Crush, Palmer and Pottenger. Nays- Trustee Schneider. Motion carried. ' A motion was made by Trustee Cole and seconded by Trustee Crush authorizing the Water Department to lower the Watermain under the bottom of.the West Drainage Ditch in Deerfield Road at a cost not to exceed Two Hundred Fifty Dollars. Motion unanimously carried. Those voting "Aye" being Trustee Cazel; Cole, Crush, Palmer, Pottenger and Schneider. Nays- None. It was moved by Trustee Crush and seconded by Trustee Schneider that the Village of Deerfield purchase a Radio for the police-car from the Frost Radio Shop,at a price of Thirty Five ($35.00) Dollars. ` Roll call resulted as follows. Yeas - Trustee Cazel, Cole, Crush, Palmer, Pottenger and Schneider. Nays- None. Motion carried. Police Magistrate Dan Hunt requested to know why he was not called upon to judge all police cases in the Village of Deerfield. A Majority Report of the Police Committee of the Village of Deerfield, signed by Edwin M. Palmer and H. G. Cazel was sub- mitted and read. The Clerk also read a letter on the request of Trustee Palmer and the permission of the Board which was received by Trustee Palmer from the Chicago Motor Clubg giving a schedule of fines and-,costs for speeding in traffio• cases in towns in Cook County outside of Chicago. Trustee Crush, Chairman of the Police Committee explained that the police cases were being divided as provided by law between the Police Magistrate - and the Justice of the Peace and that each-are to receive cases in alternate months. A motion was made by Trustee Schneider and duly seconded by Trustee Cole that the President and the Board of Trustees of the Village of Deerfield•extend a vote of Obnfidence and approval to Chairman Crush of the Police Committee for-his good work in the -Police Department. Roll call resulted as follows. Yeas= "Trustee•Cole, Pottenger and Schneider. Nays Trustee Cazel and'Palmer. Trustee Crush - Not voting. Motion carried. Requests from the Bethlehem Day Nursery and Settlement and also from the Chicago Children's. - Benefit League for permission to tag in the Village of Deerfield. on-Monday, October 2, 1939 were read and it was moved by Trustee Pottenger and seconded by Trustee Cole granting permission to the Bethlehem Day Nursery and Settlement and the Chicago Ohildren's-Benefit League to hold a tag day in the Village of Deerfield on Monday, October 2,-1939. Motion unanimously carried. Those voting "Aye" being Trustee Cazel, Cole,'Crush, Palmer, Pottenger and Schneider. Those voting "Nay" being None:' ' A motion was made by Trustee Pottenger and seconded by .Trustee Crush that the resolution to continue the Deerfield State Bank as the Depository for the funds of Florence E. Page Stryker, Village Collector,be adopted. Upon roll call the following vote was taken. Yeas- Trustee Cazel, Cole, Crush, Palmer, - Pottenger and Schneider. Naps- None.
