A regular meeting of the President and the Board of Trustees
of the Village of Pee field was called tq prder by the President
C. M. Willman at 8 P. M. with the following responding to roll
call;- Palmer, Peterson, Pottenger, Schneider and Stupple. Absent -
Trustee ,Hertel.
The minutes of the special meeting held July "7, 1938 and of
the regular meeting held July l2= 1938 /were read and approved.

At the request of the Motor Fuel Tax Division of the State
Highway Department we endeavored to get bids on the rental of a
Diesel Tractor and a Scarifier to be used on Greenwood Avenue
(also known as Arterial Street #2).
We were uhable to get more than one bid and . this was sub-
mitted by Kapschull and Coup any as follows : -
50 HP Diesel Tractor a $2.35 per hour.
(Operator, fuel and oils to be furnished-by the
Village of Deerfield)
Scarifier at the same rate per hour as that allowed by the
State Highway Department per their rental schedule for
equipment.
A motion was made by Trustee Pottenger and seconded by
Trustee Stupple to accept bid as submitted by Kapschull and
Company, subject to the approval of the.Illinois State High-
way Department.
Motion unanimously carried. Those voting "Aye" being
Trustee Palmer, Peterson, Pottenger, Schneider and Stupple.
Those votin "Nay" being None.
Bids were also submitted for 1500 gallons of PAF -2 asphalt
in drums F. 0. B. Deerfield, Illinois, by the following firms: -
Andresen Corporation $26.00 per ton
The Pioneer Asphalt Company 28.00
W. R.. Meadows, Inc. 26.50
Moved by Trustee Pottenger and'seconded by Trustee Peterson
to accept the bid as submitted by Andresen Corporation, provided
this price includes the sales tax.
Upon roll call the following vote was taken. Yeas- Trustee
Palmer, Peterson, Pottenger, Schneider and Stupple. Nays- None.
Motion carried.

It was moved by Trustee Pottenger and seconded by Trustee
Peterson that these bills be approved for payment on receipt of
proper funds. '

The fax Levy Ordinance for -the current fiscal year beginning
May 1, 1938 and ending April 30, -1939 having been-read by the
Clerk, it. was moved by Trustee Stupple and seconded by Trustee
Peterson to adopt same as read. -

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE
VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD, LAKE COUNTY, ILLINOIS:,',' --
SECTION 1. That the sum of $31,895.00, this -'sum being the
total amount -of all appropriations.for special and corporate fund
purposes legally made, and to be collected from the tax levy of
the fiscal year beginning May lst, 1938, and ending April 30th,
1939, shall be and the same is hereby levied on all property sub-
ject to taxation within the Village of Deerfield as the said
property is assessed for state and county purposes for the current
year.

A motion was made by. Trustee~ Stupple. and seconded by Trustee
Schneider to repair defective electric light cable iri the
vicinity of Deerfield Road and Beverly Place, provided same does
not exceed the sum of $100.00..
Roll call resulted-as follows._. Yeas- Trustee Palmer,
Peterson; Pottenier, Schneider and Stupple. Nays - None. Motion
carried.
Ralph Dunham having resigned as Assistant Fire Chief, the
President C. M. Willman appointed Alfred Gastfield to fill the
vacancyl which was approved.by the Board of Triusteea.
