09/04/1953143i' 3 Mr. Robert Carroll, Chairman of Civil Defense for-be Village of Deerfield, addressed the Board on plans-for a Civil Defense organization. He was assured of the desire of the Board to cooperate in any possible tray to assist in his program. Motion:sas.made by Trustee Wynkoop, seconded by Trustee Marxer, that the Village Manager be authorized to purchase four tires for police cars, two snow tires and tubes for the Water Department truck, four trash receptacles, check vouchers, and 1954 Vehicle License decals. Roll Call resulted as follows: Yeas, Trustees Kelley, Marxer, Meyer, Wynkoop. Nays, None. Motion carried. Trustee Wynkoop moved, seconded by Trustee ME=er, that the Village Manager be given power to employ school crossing guards, using his discretion as to cost. Minutes of the regular meeting of August 10, 1953 were approved as typed. The letter from Mr. Karl Berning, West Deerfield Township Supervisor, regarding the need for Sanitary Landfill sites in Lake County, was referred to Trustee King, Chairman Health Committee. Motion was ma,'e b y Trustee Engelhard; seconded by Trustee `'arxer, that a res- olution be passed cancelling the bonds of Virginia Kitchell and Hattie Pearl Wessling.
