The regular meeting of the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of
Deerfield was called to order by the'President John D. Schneider at 8:00 p.m.
Roll Call — Present: Trustees Engelhard, Kelley, Marxe'r, Meyer, Wynkoop.
Absent: Trustee King.
Trustee Engelhard moved,'seconded by Trustee Kelley, that the Ordinance levying
taxes for corporate purposes for the fiscal year beginning May 1, 1953 and ending
April 30, 1954 be passed. The`vote was as follows: Yeas, Trustees Engelhard-
Kelley, Marxert Meyer, Wynkoop.,Nays, None. 14otion carried. -

Motion was ixide by Trustee Engelhard,,seconded by Trustee Meyer, that the
Ordinance relative to tax levies for.street.and bridge purposes be passed. The
vote was as follows: Yeas, Trustees Engelhard,'Kelley., Marxer, Meyer, Wynkoop.
Nays, None. Motion carried.

Trustee Engelhard moved, seconded.by Trustee•Marxer.. that the compromise offer
of 0300.001 the Hartford Accident and Indemnity Company for release-of claims
against said\ company be accepted, with their check for that amount. Roll Call
resulted as follows:- Yeas,.Trustees Engelhard, Kelley, Marxer, Meyer, Wynkoop..
Nays, None. Motion carried.
Trustee Engelhard left the meeting.
Minutes of the regular meeting of July i3, 1953 were approved as typed.
The following bills were presented.—and it.was moved by Trustee Marxer, seconded
by Trustee Kelley, that these bill be paid-if, as, and when Rands are available.
Roll Call resulted as follows: Yeas, Trustees Kelley, Marxer, Meyer, Wynkoop.

Seconded by Trustee Wynkoop, that an ordinance be passed'granting ' a variance
from the terms of the Zoning Ordinance permitting the America Legion to construct
a building with the end wall on the rear line of their property at 849 Waukegan
Road, Deerfield. Roll Call resulted as follows: Yeas -- Trustees Kelley, Marxer,
Meyer, Wynkoop.' Nays, None. Motion carried.

Motion was made by Trustee Meyer, seconded by Trustee Kelley, that the plat of
Lynn's Whittier Avenue Subdivision be approved. The vote*was as follows: Yeas,
All. Nays, None.*.Motion carried.
A ':letter from 1lx. `Howard Olson was read regarding the extension 'of 'pavement in
Elmwood Avenue: Trustee Kelley moved, seconded by Trustee YArxert that a
Certifi4gte of *Occupancy be granted Mr. Olsori on`condition'that he agree to
extend the pavement within a year from the time the Certifiaate of Occupancy
is received, as stated in his letter. The letter was ordered placed on file.

Motion was made by Trustee Wynkoop, seconded by Trustee Marxer, that the
American Legion be given permission to transfer their liquor license to the
carnival site'tor four days, but not to' property owned by the- Village of Deerfield
or the Deerfield park District: The vote was as follows: Yeas,.All. Nays, None.
