July 13, 1953~ The regular meeting of the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Deerfield was called to order at 8:00 p.m. by Clerk Catherine Price, with the following Trustees responding to Roll Call: Engelhard, Kelley, King, Marxer., Meyer, Wynkoop. Motion was made by Trustee gngelhard, seconded by Trustee Kelley, and carried unanimously that Trustee King be appointed President pro tem. Minutes of the regular meeting of June 6. 1953 and the adjourned meeting of June 13, 1953 were approved as typed. The following bills were read, and Trustee.Engelhard.moved, seconded by Trustee Meyer, that these bills be paid if, as, and when funds are available. GEC 3,571.23 TOTAL $13060.70 The letter from the Amvets Post #63, requesting transfer of-their liquor license from 825 Waukegan Road to the carnival site for four days (July 16-19) was discussed at length. Motion was made by Trustee Meyer, seconded by Trustee Engelhard, that this matter be tabled until President Schneider could be reached` by telephone for a decision on whether the Village Manager should be authorized to transfer this license to the carnival, but not to property owned by the Village of Deerfield or the Deerfield Park District. Roll Call resulted as follows: Yeas, Trustees Engelhard, Kelley, King, Marxer, Meyer. Nays, Trustee Wynkoop. Motion carried. ° 140 An invitation to the Polio Prevention Meeting of July 28, 1953 at Wilmot School, sponsored by the three local P.T.A.s was read. The Village Yanager was requested to write to the State Water Board for information on possible methods b£ lessening the pollution of the West Drainage Ditch. Motion was made by Trustee Marxer, seconded by Trustee Engelhard, that the Police report submitted by Justices of the PeaFce Michael George and Bruce Frost, with checks for $23.00 and $61.00 respectively, be accepted. Fines collected by Police Magistrate Dan Hunt, amounting to $26.00 were no included. The vote was as follows: Yeas, All. Nays, None. Motion carried. The invitation of the North•-Chicago- Waukegan Chamber of Commerce to a picnic-on July 15, at Gages Lake, was read. Trustee. King reported that Dr. Dorothy Hunter was,the new Chairman of the Health Board, and Dr. Frank Brooks had been made a member of the Board. Motion was made by Trustee Meyer, seconded by Trustee Engelhard, that the water extensions on Landis Lane and Ramsay Road, and the sewer extension on Meadowbrook Lane be accepted.as recommended by the Villaf-e Engineer. The vote was as follows: Yeas, All. Nays,.None. Motion carried. ` - There being no objections in the public hearing on Rent Control, motion was made by Trustee Engelhard, seconded by Trustee Wynkoop, that the Resolution requesting the Federal authorities to terminate Rent Control in the Village of Deerfield be passed. The vote.was as follows: Yeas, All. Nays,.None. Motion carried. SEE RESOLUTION ATTACHF,D. Motion was made by Trustee Meyer, seconded by Trustee Wynkoop, that the following ordinance be passed. Ordinance No. 104 BE IT ORDAINED by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Deer- field that: Ordinance No. 51 relating to septic tanks be and the same is hereby amended by changing the term 40,000 square feet, as the same appears in Section 5 there- j of, to: 1125,000 square feet" This ordinance shall be in effect from and after its passage and approval as provided below. Motion was made by Trustee Kelley, secon4d by Trustee Marxer, that the appointment of George Haggard, Winston Porter, Mrs. Warren Smetters, Wesley Alibeck, and Raymond Goodpasture to the Plan Commission be confirmed. Motion carried, the vote being as follows: Yeas, All. Nays, None. Motion was made by Trustee Marxer, seconded by Trustee Kelley, that the manual to govern the conduct of the Police Department be adopted. The vote was as follows: Yeas, All. Nays, None. Motion carried. R. Trustee Meyer moved, seconded by Trustee Parxer, that the Village Manager be author- ized to enter into a contract with Mr. Guy Viti for the extension of a water main subject to specifications. The vote was as follows: Yeas, All. Nays, None. Motion carried. k; Motion was made by Trustee Kelley, seconded by Trustee Meyer, that the proposed plan for subdivision submitted by Mr. George Drucker be referred to the Plan Commission as required.by law.
