VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD
LAKE COUNTY, ILLINOIS
RESOLUTION NO. R -11 -11
A RESOLUTION OF INTENT TO PARTICIPATE IN THE PLANNING
PROCESS FOR THE UPDATE OF THE ALL NATURAL HAZARDS
MITIGATION PLAN
WHEREAS, the Village of Deerfield is subject to natural hazards, such as,
floods, tornadoes, severe winter and summer storms that can damage property, close
businesses, disrupt traffic, and present a public health and safety hazard; and
WHEREAS, Lake County is undertaking an effort to update the Lake County All
Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan (ANHMP) for the County and all interested
municipalities; and
WHEREAS, the County has invited the Village of Deerfield to participate in
and benefit from this planning effort; and
WHEREAS, several federal programs require that the Village of Deerfield
have an adopted hazard mitigation plan to qualify for their benefits;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Board of
Trustees, as follow:
1. Participation. The Village of Deerfield hereby states its interest in
participating in the County's mitigation planning process to update the Lake
County ANHMP.
2. Appointment of Representative. Barbara K. Little, P.E., Director of Public Works
and Engineering, is hereby appointed as our representative on the County's Local
Planning Committee (LPC), which is an official advisory body to Lake County created
by the Lake County Board. She is charged with:
a. Attending the meetings of the County's LPC;
b. Keeping Village staff and this Board of Trustees informed of the LPC's
activities and recommendations;
c. Assisting the County's efforts to collect information about the hazards facing

the Village of Deerfield and our current policies and programs that can
mitigate the impacts of those hazards; and
d. Obtaining input from Village staff on mitigation issues relevant to their
work.
3. Intent to Adopt Plan. When the County's LPC has completed its work
and presents its recommended 2011 update to the ANHMP, this Board of Trustees
will review it with the intention of adopting all or parts of it. It is understood that
this resolution of commitment to participate in the planning process does not
constitute a commitment to enact the recommended plan.
So RESOLVED this 18th Day of July, 2011.
