R-10-11VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD LAKE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS RESOLUTION NO. R -10 -11 A RESOLUTION OPTING OUT OF PARTICIPATION IN COOK COUNTY'S AUTOMATED RED LIGHT TRAFFIC SAFETY SYSTEM FOR ALL INTERSECTIONS WITHIN THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD WHEREAS, Section 82 -101 of the Cook County Code provides for the installation of automated red light violation traffic safety systems administered by the Cook County Highway Department at intersections with highways in Cook County's maintenance jurisdiction; and, WHEREAS, Section 82 -101 of the Cook County Code further provides that, upon passage by resolution, a municipality may opt -out of participation in Cook County's automated red light traffic safety system for any vehicle traffic intersection within that municipality's incorporated boundaries; and, WHEREAS, Cook County has proposed to install automated red light traffic safety system cameras at the intersection of Lake -Cook Road and Waukegan Road (IL Route 43) within the corporate boundaries of the Village of Deerfield; and, WHEREAS, the corporate authorities of the Village of Deerfield do not support the installation of automated red light violation traffic safety system cameras at the intersection of Lake -Cook Road and Waukegan Road within the corporate boundaries of the Village of Deerfield; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD, LAKE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS, in the exercise of its home rule powers, as follows: SECTION 1: That the above and foregoing recitals, being material to this Resolution, are hereby incorporated and made a part hereof as if fully set forth herein. SECTION 2: In accordance with Section 82 -101 of the Cook County Code, the Village of Deerfield hereby opts -out of participation in Cook County's automated red light traffic safety system for any vehicle traffic intersection within the corporate limits of the Village of Deerfield, including but not limited to the intersection of Lake -Cook Road and Waukegan Road (IL Route 43) within the corporate boundaries of the Village of Deerfield. SECTION 3: That the Village Clerk be and he is hereby authorized and directed to send certified copies of this Resolution to the County Clerk of Cook County, the President of the Cook County Board of Commissioners and the Cook County Highway Superintendent. SECTION 4: That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval as provided by law. PASSED this 6th day of July , 2010.
