The meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Village of Deerfield which was recessed on April 16,
2001 was called to order by Mayor Forrest in the Council Chamber of the Village Hall on
Wednesday, April 25, 2001 at 8:00 P.M. The Clerk called the roll and announced that the
following were:
Present: Bernard Forrest, Mayor
Steve Harris
John Heuberger
Derek Ragona
Harriet Rosenthal
William Seiden
Vernon Swanson
and that a quorum was present and in attendance. Also present were Village Attorney Peter
Coblentz and Village Manager Robert Franz.
SWEARING -IN CEREMONY Mayor Forrest introduced Judge Wallace Dunn, a
Deerfield resident and Associate Judge of the Lake
County Circuit Court, who has sworn in Deerfield elected officials in recent years.
Judge Dunn administered the oath of office to Mayor Steven Harris who then accepted the gavel
from outgoing Mayor Bernard Forrest.
Jerry Kayne, Harriet Rosenthal and Vernon Swanson were then sworn in as Village Trustees.
ROLL CALL The Clerk called the roll and announced that the
following were:

Harriet Rosenthal
William Seiden
Vernon Swanson
REMARKS Mayor Harris and Trustee Kayne introduced. their
families and thanked their supporters for their help in
the election. Mayor Harris announced that he had directed the Village Manager to place an ad in
the Deerfield Review concerning the Trustee vacancy created by his election as Mayor. The
opening also will be highlighted in the May issue of D- Tales, on Cable Channel 10 and the
Village's web -site. Applications will be accepted until May 18th. .
RESOLUTION RE Mr. Franz noted that, with the change in elected
CHECK SIGNATURES officials, the Village Board needed to pass a Resolution
authorizing new bank signatories. Trustee Ragona
moved, seconded by Trustee Swanson, to approve a Resolution designating certain people to sign
checks on behalf of the municipality. The motion passed by the following vote:
AYES: Kayne, Ragona, Rosenthal, Seiden, Swanson (5)
NAYS: None (0)
MEETING NOTICE Mayor Harris announced that the Village Board would
meet as a Committee of the Whole on Monday, April
30, 2001 at 7:30 P.M. in the Board Room.
ADJOURNMENT There being no further business to discuss, Trustee
Rago a a motion to adjourn the meeting. Trustee
Rosenthal seconded the motion. The motion pa ed un imously. The meeting was adjourned at
8:28 P.M.
