The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Village of
Deerfield was called to order by the Clerk in the Council Chamber
of the Village Hall on Monday, February 15, 1993 at 8:00 P.M. The
Clerk called the roll and announced that the following were
Present: Marvin Ehlers
James L. Marovitz
Edwin B. Seidman
Vernon E. Swanson
Michael Swartz
and that a quorum was present and in attendance. Also present was
Village Manager Robert Franz.
Trustee Marovitz moved, seconded by Trustee Swanson, that Trustee
Seidman be named Mayor Pro Tem. Motion carried unanimously.
Trustee Swartz moved, seconded by Trustee Marovitz, that the
minutes of the previous meeting be approved. Motion carried
unanimously.

TREASURER'S REPORT Finance Director George Valentine reported
that sales tax receipts were up 5% over
the past 12 months. All major revenue items met or exceeded
projection except for Sewer Charges which were within 1.5%.
Expenditures were within budget. As of January 31, 101.72 of cash
was invested at an average interest rate of 5.70 %.
PROCLAMATION Mayor Pro Tem Seidman proclaimed the month
of March, 1993 to be Youth Art Month in
the Village of Deerfield.
Trustee Swanson moved, seconded by Trustee Swartz, that the
Proclamation be accepted. Motion carried unanimously.
TEXT AMENDMENT RE The Plan Commission reviewed ordinances
POLITICAL SIGNAGE of surrounding communities and recommended
the Zoning Ordinance be amended to
prohibit political signs in the public right -of -way and the
prohibition against such signs be strictly enforced.
Trustee Marovitz moved, seconded by Trustee Swartz, that the
recommendation of the Plan Commission be approved and the Attorney
directed to prepare the necessary Ordinance. Motion carried
unanimously.

The Plan Commission recommended approval

Trustee Swartz moved, seconded by Trustee Ehlers, that the
recommendation of the Plan Commission approving Applebee's request
for an amendment to the signage package be accepted. Motion
carried unanimously.

DISCUSSION In response to an inquiry regarding the
status of the retention basin on Lake Cook
Road, Village Manager Robert Franz advised that the contractors
intend to finish it this summer. There is no firm completion
date, but if completed this summer the basin should be operational
by late fall.

There being no further business, upon
motion of Trustee Ehlers, seconded by
Trustee Swartz, the meeting adjourned at 8:27 P.M.
