Statement on Property Reassessments
June 15, 1992 Village Board Meeting
Last week's Deerfield Review included an article regarding efforts by major corporations
to seek reductions in their property assessments. While this is their right under the law,
the Village, as one of several local governments impacted, wishes to emphasize its interest
and involvement in such matters.
Working with other taxing agencies, we do all within our power to assure that reductions
in assessments are warranted and, in fact, justified. Together, we have retained appraisers
in order to provide tax appeal boards with objective data for deciding these appeals.
The Village will continue to monitor these procedures very closely. Property owners,
and particularly single - family residential taxpayers,, will be represented in assuring fair and
equitable assessments, particularly on income producing properties.
