The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Village of
Deerfield was called to order by the 111ayor in the Council Chamber
of the Village Hall on Monday, June 4, 1990, at 8:00 P.M. The
Clerk called the roll and announced that the following were
Present: Bernard J. Forrest, Mayor
James I. I,arovitz
Cynthia J. Marty
Harriet B. Rosenthal
Edwin B. Seidman
Vernon E. Swanson
J. Robert York
and that a quorum was present and in attendance. Also present was
Village Manager Robert Franz and Attorney Herb Linn.
Mayor Forrest requested the minutes of the previous meeting
regarding the Class C Liquor license be amended to read "that an
ordinance be prepared for an additional Class C liquor license."
The name of the restaurant should be deleted from the paragraph
heading; and the body of the paragraph. Trustee Seidman moved,
seconded by Trustee Marty, that the minutes of the previous
meeting, as amended, be approved. 1--lotion carried unanimously..
MANPOWER C011111ISSION Mayor Forrest announced appointments by
the 14an-oower Commission to fill
vacancies on the following: Energy Advisory Resource Recovery
Commission - Cindy Klein, Ronald Berman, Joann Dinneen; Village
Center Development Commission - Barbara Struthers.
Trustee Seidman moved, seconded by Trustee Marty, that the
appointments be approved. ;lotion carried unanimously.
SAFETY COUIdCIL The Safety Council voted unanimously not
STOP SIGNS to recommend signage at the intersection
BURR OAK /ROSEWOOD of Burr Oak and Rosewood. Their decision
was based on accident history, traffic
warrants and site inspection.
Trustee Marty moved, seconded by Trustee Seidman, that the
recommendation of the Safety Council be accepted. Motion carried
unanimously.
Roy Lipner, 311 Burr Oak, presented the Board with copies of a
petition sighed by residents of the Burr Oak /Rosewood area who
approved the stop sign proposal.

Trustee Seidman moved, seconded by Trustee Marty, that the Consent
Agenda be accented and the Ordinance adopted. Motion carried by
the following vote:

BANNOCKBURN WATER Due to the absence of a Bannockburn
SERVICE - 1330 AND representative, Trustee Seidman moved,
1400 NORTH AVENUE seconded by Trustee Marovitz, to table the
request of Bannockburn for water service
to 1330 and 1400 North Avenue to the next meeting. Mayor Forrest
directed that Bannockburn's representative be prepared to discuss
traffic restrictions on Wilmot and Telegraph Roads at the next
meeting. Motion carried unanimously. (As Amended 6/18/90)

DISCUSSIOId: Barbara Jamey, 1520 Chapel Court in
Deerfield, distributed copies of a
petition signed by Deerfield residents who are in favor of lake
County preservin- Thorngate as open space. Ms. Iamey urged the
Board and Mayor Forrest to issue another statement clearly
indicating their stand for or against Thorngate remaining an open
space. Mayor Forrest advised that another statement would not be
made and noted that the Thorn -ate matter --das not a Villa e ZD
decision, but one for Lake County to make.
`fury Ellen Hirsh, 1100 Charing Cross, spoke in defense of keeping
Thorngate as open space and asked where residents could contact
Lake County Board representatives to indicate their support.
The Board named the four Iake County representatives for the
Deerfield district and stated the Village Ball would have a
telephone number available for those residents interested in
contacting the respresentatives.
Cindy P --luldoon from Riverwoods urged Deerfield residents to call or
write the lake County Board to make known their support. A
decision by the County Board regarding Thorngate is to be made on
June 15.
There being no further business, upon motion of Trustee Marovitz,
seconded by Trustee Seidman, the meeting adjourned at 8:45 P.M.
