RESOLUTION NO. R -05 -14
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING DEERFIELD'S MEMBERSHIP
IN THE CLEAN AIR COUNTS CAMPAIGN
WHEREAS, ground level ozone (smog). is a significant public health problem
confronting large metropolitan areas, and
WHEREAS, the Chicago metropolitan area has been designated a severe non-
attainment area with respect to National Ambient Air Quality Standards established under the
Clean Air Act, and
WHEREAS, the region is under mandate to improve air quality by 2007, and
WHEREAS, a voluntary association of public and private organizations known
as the Clean Air Communities Campaign has been organized to develop a system for units of
local government to help improve the health and economic viability of the region, and
WHEREAS, membership in said association is a pledge to improve air quality
through voluntary action, including a public awareness campaign,
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the President and Board of Trustees of
the Village of Deerfield that:
Section 1: The Village Manager is hereby authorized and directed to take the
actions necessary for the Village of Deerfield to become a member of Partners for Clean Air
and to fulfill the commitments pledged by such membership;
Section 2: That this Resolution shall be in full effect from and after its
passage and appears as provided by law.
