07/23/1962July 23, 1962 A meeting of the Board of Local Improvements of the Village of Deerfield was called to order by the President in the Council Chambers of the Village Hall on Monday, July 23, 1962 at 8 :10 p.m. The secretary called the roll and reported the following were Present: David C. Whitney, President Ira K. Hearn, Jr. James E. Mandler Winston S. Porter Absent: dohn F. Aberson John A. S. Lindemann Maurice C. Petesch and that a quorum was present and in attendance at the meeting. Also present were Messrs. Norris Stilphen, manager; Seymour Axelrood, repre- senting the Village attorney, and Robert Bowen, Building Commissioner. Approve Voucher 7, S!A 98 Mr.. Mandler moved, seconded by Mr. Hearn, Monarch Asphalt - $2897.47 that the Board approve and authorize the issuance of Voucher No. 7 in, the amount of $2,897.47 to Monarch Asphalt for work completed on Somerset Avenue, Special Assessment No. 98. Adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Hearn, Mandler, Porter, Whitney (4) Nays: None (0) Approve Voucher 6, S/A 98 Mr. Mandler moved, seconded by Mr. Hearn, Ciorba, Spies &.Gustafson that the Board approve and authorize the $91-30 issuance of Voucher No. 6 in the amount of $91.30 to Ciorba, Spies and Gustafson for services on connection with the Somerst Avenue improvement, Special Assessment No. 98. Adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Hearn, Mandler, Porter, Whitney (4) Nays: None ( 0) Approve Voucher 2, S/A 99 Mr. Mandler moved, seconded by Mr, Hearn, Charles Greengard $2078.70 that the Board approve and authorize the issuance of Voucher No. 2 to Charles W. Greengard Associates in the amount of $2,078.70 for services in connection with Special Assessment No. 99, Wilmot Road sidewalks. Adopted by the foI lowing• vote: Ayes: Hearn, Mandler, Porter, Whitney (4) Nays: None (0) Discussion was had on the construction of sidewalks in the vicinity of the schools. The manager reported that Mr. Joe Valenti was not receptive to the plan to construct sidewalks in place of carriage walks, as approved for his subdivision. Mr. Porter suggested that an estimate of costs be prepared, and that'considera'tion'be"g'i'venW to the Village paying the difference in cost between the 3 ft. carriage 1 1 1 walks and 5 ft. sidewalks. He stated there was approximately $4,000 in the sidewalk - improvement appropriation, which might be used for this purpose. The matter will be discussed further when cost estimates are available. .
