06/18/1962 (2)June 18, 1962 A public hearing on the Greenwood Interceptor Storm Sewer, Special Assessment No. 101, was held by the Board of Local Improve - ments of the Village of Deerfield in the Council Chambers of the Village Hall on Monday, June 18, 1962.r..1-The meeting was called to order at 8 :00 p.m.,•Mr. Winston Porter presiding. The secretary called the roll and reported the following were Present: John F. Aberson Ira K. Hearn, Jr. John A. S. Lindemann James E. Mandler Maurice C. Petesch Winston S. Porter Absent: David C. Whitney,President and that a quorum -was present and in attendance at the meeting. Also present were Messrs. Byron Matthews, attorney, and Norris Stilphen, manager. Moved by Mr. Hearn, seconded by Mr. Aberson, that minutes of the meeting held June 4, 1962 be approved as submitted. Motion carried unanimously. The Notice of Public Hearing was read. Mr. Charles W. Greengard, engineer, described the scope of the project, pointing out changes in design from the original plan, the cost and footage remaining the same. Mr. Henry Uteg, Commissioner of Special Assessments, discussed the spread of the - assessment, with an estimated total cost of $58,902.40, amounting to slightly more than 4 cents per square foot for the acreage, lots and dedicated areas included in the project. He stated $15,785.05 was the Village's share of the cost for Public Benefits spread against streets, alleys, and all dedicated areas. The meeting was recessed at 8:30 p.m., and was re- convened at 8:37 p.m. Mr. Norman Perlmutter, 1056 Greentree, objected to the project, stating his property would not be benefited by the proposed sewer and the project was unnecessary. Mr. Alfred Anderson, 1045 Greenwood, opposed the assessment on the basis that he had paid for.a combination sewer to serve his property under Special Assessment No. 22 and the Village had paid for the separation of combined Sewers in other areas of the Village by -the issuance of bonds for such separation. Other objectors were: 0. A)masy, 1226 Parkside; H. F. Robinson, 1129 Greentree; T. L. Johnson, 1144 Hazel; G. Schweitzer,'I216 "W66d•," Mrs. Nancy Petersen, 1049 Greentree; and- A -lien- Dariner; "' 1021' Greenwood. They stated the sewer was not needed, there was no flodding, and they Mr. Mandler asked the manager to prepare a brief resume' of previous action and,background of the Greenwood Storm Sewer project. There being no further business to come before the Board of Local Improvements, on motion by Mr.. Petesch, seconded by Mr. Hearn, the meeting was adjourned. Secretary 1 would derive= no benefit from the project. The meeting was recessed at 9:35 p.m. and re- convened at 9 :45 p.m. Mr. Aberson moved, seconded by Mr. Hearn, that the preparation of the resolution and.ordinanee be authorized.to proceed with the Greenwood Interceptor Storm SEwer project. Adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Aberson, Hearn, Mandler, Lindemann, Porter (5) Nays: Petesch (1) , Mr. Mandler asked the manager to prepare a brief resume' of previous action and,background of the Greenwood Storm Sewer project. There being no further business to come before the Board of Local Improvements, on motion by Mr.. Petesch, seconded by Mr. Hearn, the meeting was adjourned. Secretary 1
