04/16/1962149 rezoning until the matter of storm water drainage of the subdivision has been resolved in a manner which will protect his client's property. He stated a large storm water sewer had been installed which carried surface drainage of the present and proposed subdivision to the edge of the Deerfield Development Company property where it is dumped on Mr. Dewey's property. President Whitney suggested that the Plan Commission appoint a subcommittee to study flood plain problems, and that Messrs. Horwitz, Dewey, Gilbert, Trustee Lindemann, the Manager and Building Commissioner arrange a meeting to try to resolve this specific problem. A letter was received from the Village Attorney, reporting that the case of Gaston vs. Village of Deerfield had been dismissed for want of prosecution, but may be re- instated. Reports were received from the Lake County lealth Department regarding 4 violations of health ordinances - an apartment with no hot water, a sewer over - flowing, and two restaurants. A report was submitted on the number of multiple family units in the Village. A letter was received from the Lake County Contractors Assocation objecting to building requirements in the manufacturing district as being higher than else- where. Copies of the letter are to be sent to members of the joint committee on bui ldi,ng regulations. Discussion was had on the letter from Allis Chalmers Corporation regarding a proposed addition and the requirements of fire resistive construction. The manager was directed to check into the dates of building permits for additions to the Allis Chalmers plant. The Manager reported appraisals on land acquisition for the North Avenue - Berkeley Road extension had been received from Mr. William Pittenger, He stated the Board would meet with the County Superintendent of Highways on Tuesday. A letter of thanks wil.1 be sent to the Company. The Manager reported the Fire Protection Board had agreed to pay one -half the cost of the traffic signal lights.for the Fire District. . Trustee Petesch stated that an unprotected excavation at the Wolfson apartment site was the scene of a near tragedy when a child was caught- in the mud, and recommended that some action be taken to protect children in such places, such as requiring fencing. Mr. Matthews stated an ordinance could be drawn to require fencing of hazardow excavations, but many factors entered into such requirements. Trustee Hearn proposed, and the Board concurred, that the matter be referred to the Safety ;.�Counci 1 for their recommendations. Presi- dent Whitney suggested the Building Inspectors watch for this sort of hazard, and notify contractors to protect the area. A letter was received from the Division of Highways reporting a balance of $70,x553.51 in Motor Fuel Tax Funds credited to the Village. 1 1
