The adjourned meeting of the President and Board of Trustees of the Village
of Deerfield was called to order by.the President in the Council Chambers of the
Village Hall on Monday, April 24, 1961 at 8 :15 P.M. The clerk called the roll
and reported the following were
Present: Joseph W. Koss, President
JohnF. Aberson
Maurice C. Petesbh
Winston S. Porter
Absent: Harold L. Peterson
Arno D. Weh1e
and that a quorum was present and in attendance at the meeting. Mr. Norris
Stilphen, Village Manager; was also present.
The clerk announced that the judges of election in each precinct had duly
d elivered the ballots, returns and tally sheets in connection with the election
for Village officials held on the 18th day of April, 1961.
. Moved by Trustee Petesch, seconded by Trustee Porter, that the cl.ehk open
and read the returns. notion carried unanimously.
The clerk then opened and read the returns which showed the following votes
cast for the persons indicated:

Trustee Aberson moved, seconded by Trustee Petesch, that the foll)owing:•resotuthon
be adopted:
WHEREAS the returns of the election held on the 18th day of April, 1961
having been duly made to the Village Clerk, and having been canvassed in open
meeting,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that David C. Whitney be declared to be
elected Village President; and that Catherine B. Price be declared to be elected
Village Clerk; and that Ira K. Hearn, Jr., John A. S. Lindemann and James E.
Mandler be declared to be elected Village Trustees.
The resolution was adopted by the following vote:
Ayes: Aberson, Petesch, Porter, Koss (4)
Nays: None (0)
A noticeof suit filed against the Village and Ellis Giles having been
received, Trustee Petesch moved, seconded by Trustee Aberson, that the Village
Manager be directed to check coverage with the insurance company in the defense
of the suit, or to notify the Village Attorney, Mr. Thomas Matthews, in order to
insure that an answer be filed. Adopted by the following vote:
Ayes: Aberson, Petesch, Porter, Koss (4)
Nays: None (0)
Moved by Trustee Petesch, seconded by Trustee Porter, and carried unan-
imously, that the meeting be adjourned to May 5, 1961 at 8 :00 P.M.
