08/27/1958so August 27, 1958 The adjourned meeting of the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Deerfield- was called to order by the President in the Council Chambers of the Village Hall on Wednesday, August 27, 1958 at 8:00 P.M. The Clerk called the roll and reported the following were Present: G. Eldon Holmquist, President Joseph W. Brown Carl J. Jaeger Harold L. Peterson Maurice C. Petesch Arno D. Wehle Absent: Joseph W. {Coss and that a quorum was present and in attendance at the meeting. Mr. Owens, Village Manager, and Mr. Byron Matthews, Attorney, were also present. Tax Levy Ordinance Trustee Jaeger moved, seconded by Trustee 0-58- 0 Wehle, that the-:tax levy ordinance for the year beginning May 1, 1958 abd ending April 30, 1959 be adopted. Upon roll call the following vote was recorded: Ayes: Brown, Jaeger, Peterson, Petesch, Wehle (5) Nays: None (0) Street and Bridge Levy Trustee Peterson moved, seconded by Trustee 0-58-42) Wehle, that an ordinance be adopted authorizing an additional tax levy for street and bridge purposes for the fiscAl,•year 1958-59. Adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Brown, Jaeger, Peterson, Petesch, Wehle (5) Nays: None(0) Ordinance - Abatement Municipal Bldg. Bond Levy Trustee Wehle moved, seconded by Trustee XO- 58-43) Petesch, that an ordinance be adopted abating the levy for Municipal Building Bonds for the fiscal year 1958-59, finds being on hand from Sales Tax receipts for payment of principal and interest due in said year. Adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Brown, Jaeger, Peterson, Petesch, Wehle (5) Nays: None (0) Adopt Budget 1958`59 Trustee Jaeger moved, seconded by Trustee Petesch, that the budget for the fiscal year 1958 -59 be adopted as presented, and the Village Manager be authorized to administer expenditures as set forth in said budget in accordnance with bidding procedures established by Statute and Village ordinances, and to make necessary expenditures of not to exceed $500 without prior Board approval. Adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Brown, Jaeger, Peterson, Petesch, Wehle (5) Nays: None (0) Table Blietz Nixon Plat Trustee Brown moved, seconded by Trustee Peterson, that the proposed plat of the Glietz -Nixon Countryside Subdivision be tabled for further study and discussion. CArried unanimously. rawl i Street Lights Referred Trustee Jaeger moved, :seconded by Trustee to Manager Peterson, that the question of street light maintenance and costs be referred to the Village Manager for additional information, and report to the Board. Carried unanimously. Accept Pavement - Ist Trustee Peterson moved, seconded by Trustee Jaeger, Addition (to Deerfield that the Village accept and approve the street Park Subdivision pavement in First Addition to Deerfield Park Subdivision, as recommended by Mr. Gowen, Supt. of Inspections, a one year maintenance bond having been posted by Skokie Valley AsphAlt Company. Adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Brower, Jaeger, Peterson, Petesch, Wehle (5) Nays: None (0) Reject Did - Hazel Avenue One bid, from Liefer Bros., of $895.00 was Storm SEwer Change Order #1 received for the work on the Hazel Avenue storm sewer, as covered in Change Order #1. Trustee d Brown moved, seconded by Trustee Peterson, that the -bid of Liefer Bros. be rejected C� and new bids be advertised. Adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Brown, Jaeger, Peterson, Petesch, Wehle (5) Nays: None (0) Deny Scavenger License An application was received from John Strub, John'Strub County Line Road, for a scavenger license, with the required fee, bond and certificates of insurance attached. Trustee Wehle moved, seconded by Trustee Petesch, that Mr. STrub's application for a scavenger license be denied, on the §§rounds that adequate scavenger service is being provided by the two licensees now operating in Deerfield, and that check, bond and insurance certificate be returned. Adopted by the following vote:. Ayes: Brown, Jaeger, Peterson, Petesch, Wehle (5) Nays: None (0) Bids - Sewage Treatment The following bids were received for the Pump Installation installation of a positive displacement sludge pump at the sewage treatment plant: Walter J. Tertinger, Inc. $ 2,359.00 Patton Modern Plumbing & Heating 2,170.00 Rqy T. Meyer Plumbing Co. 1,960.00 W. Ranzenberg & Company 1,770.00 Award Bid Installation of Pump to W. Wanzenberg & Co. W. Wanzenberg & Co., Evanston, following vote: Baxter & Woodman reported that all bidders were reliable. Trustee Brown moved, seconded by Trustee Peterson, that the work be awarded to the low bidder, at the bid price of $1,770.00. Adopted by the Ayes: Brown; Jaeger, Peterson, Petesch, Wehle (5), Nays: None (0) There being no further business to come before the meeting, on motion by Trustee Peterson, seconded by Trustee Jaeger, the meeting was adjourned.
