August 20, 1958
The adjourned meeting of the President and Board of Trustees of the
Village of Deerfield was called to order by the President in the Council Chambers
of the Village Hall on Wednesday, August 20, 1958 at 8:30 P.M. The Clerk
called the roll and reported the following were
Present: G. Eldon Holmquist, President
Joseph W. Brown
Carl J. Jaeger
Harold L. Peterson
Maurice C. Petesch
Arno D. Wehle
Absent: Joseph W. Koss
and that a quorum was present and in attendance at the meeting, Mr. Royce
Owens, Village Manager, and Mr. Byron Matthews, Attorney, were also present.
On motion by Trustee Petesch, seconded by Trustee Jaeger, reading of
the minutes of the regular meeting held August 13, 1958 was dispensed with,
and were approved as submitted. Carried unanimously.
Condemnation Authorized Trustee Petesch moved, seconded by Trustee Wehle,
Hackberry Avenue that the Village Attorney be authorized to
institute condemnation proceddings for the ac-
quisition of a right of way tbeough Franken Bros. Nursery (Marshall Pottenger)
for street and sewer purposes. Adopted by the following vote:
Ayes: Brown, Jaeger, Peterson, Petesch, Wehle (5)

Completion of Westgate The Village Manager reported that oral agree-
ments had been made with Messrs. Horwitz and
Valenti to complete - Westgate Road to intersections with North -South streets.
Trustee Peterson moved, seconded by Trustee Brown, that the Village Manager
be instructed to enforce said oral agreements. Adopted by the following vote:
Ayes: Brown, Jagger, Peterson, Petesch, Wehle (5)

Deerfield Commons Site Trustee Peterson moved, seconded by Trustee
Grading Approved Brown, that the plan for site grading and under-
ground improvements for Deerfield Commons Shopping
Center be approved, incorporating changes recommended by the Fire Marshal;
the owners thereof having agreed that final location of the underground will
be determined by the location of any access roadway to Deerfield Road, and to
the dedication of the 27 ft. roadway at the west side of the property from
Osterman Avenue to the North line of said property; provided that approval and
issuance of the permit for site grading shall not be construed to include
approval of any building permits. Adopted by the following vote:

Elmwood Avenue Street Mr. Charles Caruso, Principal, SchoolDistrict
Standards #110, requested permission to construct a
gravel driveway in the right -of -way of Elmwood
Avenue from Wilmot Road to the school property. Trustee Peterson moved,
seconded by Trustee Wehle, that Elmwood Avenue from Wilmot Road to the West
line of the school property shall be constructed in accordance with design
standards of the Village of Deerfield Ordinance #154, including 24 ft. pave-
ment, curb and gutter and carriage walks. Adopted by the following vote:

Resolutions - 1957 & 1958 Trustee Peterson moved, seconded by Trustee Brown,
Motor Fuel Tax Maintenance that resolutions be adopted for the revised 1957
and 1958 Motor Fuel Tax Maintenance of Arterial
Streets. Adopted by the following vote:
Ayes: Brown, Jaeger, Peterson, Petesch, Wehle (5)

Ordinance - Vehicle License Trustee Petesch moved, seconded by Trustee Jaeger,
Fees (0- 58 -38) that an ordinance be adopted establishing fees
for vehicle licenses for motor vehicles, including
motor scooters and motor bikes. Adopted by the following vote:
Ayes: Brown, Jaeger, Peterson, Petesch, Wehle (5)

Ordinance - Driveway Fees Trustee Wehle moved, seconded by Trustee Petesch,
(0-58-39) that an ordinance be adopted establishing a $25.00
fee-for commercial driveway permits, and a $25.00
deposit and $10.00 inspection fee for all other driveways where the curb must be
broken. Adopted by the following vote:
