07/16/1958h'3 July 16, 1958 The adjourned meeting of the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Deerfield was called to order by the president in the Council Chambers of the Village Hall on t!ednesday, July 16, 1958 at 9:30 P.M. The Clerk called the roll and reported the following were Present: G. Eldon Holmquist, President Joseph t-J. Brown Carl J. Jaeger Harold L. Peterson Maurice C. Petesch Arno D. t1eh 1 e Absent: None and that a quorum was present and in attendance at the meeting. Trustee Petesch moved, seconded by Trustee Jaeger, that reading of the minutes be dispensed with, and the minutes of the regular meeting held July 9, 1958 be approved as submitted. Carried unanimously. Authorize Employment Police Mr. Owens, Village Manager, presented and ? atrolman read a letter from Chief of Police Petersen, stating that a vacancy exists in th3 Deerfield Police Department. Trustee Petesch moved, seconded by Trustee Jaeger, that the appointment of a Police Patrolman be authorized to fill the vacancy. Adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Brown, Jaeger, {Coss, Peterson, Petesch, Uehle (6) Nays: None (0) Appoint Thomas Rogge The Board of Police Commissioners recommended Police Patrolman that appointment of Thomas G. Rogge,to the Police Department. Trustee Petesch moved, seconded by Trustee Jaeger, that Thomas G. Rogge, 971 Ulindsor ;Zoad, Highland Park, be appointed to the Police Department as a Police Patrolman, subject to his acceptance of the appointment within thirty days. Adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Brown, Jaeger, Koss, Peterson, Petesch, t'ehle (6) Nays: None (0) Salary - Disabled Officer The Police Pension Board reported that 5I /I of Arthur Crumpler a disabled Police Officer's salary could be paid from Police Pension Funds upon application and proof of disability. Trustee Petesch moved, seconded by Trustee Uehle, that the Village pay the injured officer, Arthur Crumpler, one months pay, and one -half months pay for an additional two months period, pay to be reviewed at the termin &tion 90 days following date he was scheduled to return to active duty following vacation. Adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Brown, Jaeger, Koss, Peterson, Petesch, wehle (6) Nays: none (0) Approve Ads for Bids Trustee Brown moved, seconded by Trustee Jaeger, County Line Rd. Sewer that the Board authorize advertisement for bids for the construction of the County Line goad sewer, to be returnable August 25, 1958 at 5:00 P.M. Adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Brown, Jaeger, Koss, Peterson, Petesch, Uehle Mays: iuone (0) I 1 9 Deny Duraclean Petition The report of the Board of Zoning Appeals was for Variances received regarding Duraclean Company's petition . for variances. Trustee Koss moved, seconded by Trustee Peterson, that theRoadd concur in the recommendation of the Board of Zoning Appeals to deny variances relating to ground coveragelfront yard set- back, parking in side yards, and interior loading, to reject the qualified recommendation relating to rear yard depth; and the petition for variances submitted by Duraclean Company be denied on the grounds that hardship cannot be determined until building plans have been submitted. Adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Brown, Jaeger, Koss, P eterson, Petesch-, Wehle (6) Nays: None (0) Stanton & Rockwell Trustee Koss moved, seconded by Trustee Wehle, Planninq_Seriri'ces that the-Village Manager be instructed to cause a contract to be prepared providing that Stanton and Rockwell shall be retained as planning consultants at a fee of $200.00 per month, and providing that said firm shall revise and bring up to date the master plan of the Village pursuant to their letter df July 15, 1958; and it be further provided that said contract shall be reviewed by the Board prior to execution by the Manager. Adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Brown, Jaeger, Koss, Peterson, Petesch, Wehle (6) Nays: None (0) Authorize Baxter & Woodman Trustee Brown moved, seconded by Trustee Peterson, Water REport that Baxter and Woodman, Engineers, be authorized to bring the Water Report up to date at no cost to the Village. Carried unanimously. Approve Landis Subdivision #1 The report of the Plan Commission recommended approval of subdivision plats 1, 2 and 3 in Landis Subdivision, and that requirements for street ,'dedications, sidewalks, curb, paving, storm sewer and street lighting be waived. Trustee Koss moved, seconded by Trustee Petesch, that Landis Subdivision #l, a subdivision of the tract at the Northwest corner of Meadowbrook and Landis Lanes into three lots, be approved,.in accordance with the recommendation of the Plan Commission, with a 70 ft. dedication for a secondary street at the Northeast corner, and a cul -de -'-sac at the end of Meadowbrook Lane. .Adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Jaeger, foss, Petesch, Wehle (4) Nays: Brown, Peterson (2) Reiect Landis Subdivision #2 Trustee Koss moved, seconded by Trustee Peterson, that the recommendation of the Plan Commission regarding Landis Subdivision #2 be rejected, and said Subdivision of 4 lots on the South side and East end of Landis Lane be denied. Adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Brown, Jaeger, Koss, Peterson, Petesch, Wehle (6) Nays: None (0) Approve Landis Subdivision #3 Trustee Koss moved, seconded by Trustee Wehle, that the Board approve Landis Subdivisd:on #3, two lots on the East side of Meadowbrook Lane at the South entrance to the Reed Landis Tract, in accordance with the recommendation of the Plan Commission. Adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Jaeger, Koss, Petesch, Wehle (4) Nays: Brown, Peterson (2) 70 Authorize Preparation Street Trustee Koss moved, seconded by Trustec !`chle, Vacation Ordinance- Landis Sub. that the Village Attorney be instructcc to prepare an ordinance to vacate any right -of- way in the Reed Landis Subdivision which was acquired within the last trlelve months. Adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Jaeger, Koss, Petesch, !-lehle (�r) Nays: Grown, Peterson (2) Ordinance - Conditional Use Trustee Koss moved, seconded by Trustee Peterson, Holy Cross Accessory Bldg. that an ordinance be adopted granting a (0-53-31) conditional use for the conduct and operation of an accessory building for religious nurposcs on the premises immediately adjoining and lying north of the present Holy Cross School and Church property.
