02/12/1958C:) C� 1 1 February 12, 1958 The regular meeting of the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Deerfield was called to order by the.President in the Council Chambers of the Village Hall on Wednesday, February 12, 1958 at 8 :00 P.M. The Clerk called the roll and reported the following were Present: G. Eldon Holmquist, President Joseph. W. Brown Carl J. Jaeger Joseph W. Koss Maurice C. Petesch Harold L. Peterson Absent: Arno D. Wehle and that a quorum was present and in attendance at the meeting. Also present were Mr. Royce Omens, Village Manager, and Mr. Thomas Matthews, Village Attorney. Trustee Peterson moved, seconded by Trustee Jaeger, that minutes of the regular meeting held January 8, 1958 be approved as submitted. Adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Brown, Jaeger, Koss, Peterson, Petesch (5) Nays: None (0) Reports The reports of the Building Commissioner, Fire Marshal and Health Officer for the month of Janaury were approved. The Police report for January, showing 36 arrests and fines of $518.50 was approved. Authorize Taking Bids -Rifle Trustee Brown moved, seconded by Trustee Petesch, Range & Air Conditioning that plans and Walton be approved, and the Village Manager be returnable March 4, 1958. Carried unanimously. and specifications prepared by Walton for the rifle range and air conditioning authorized to advertise for bids to be 1 fl. D 27 The proposal from the National Power Rodding Company for cleaning main trunk sewers was referred to the Sewer Committee for the purpose of developing a program of maintenance for such sewer lines. Accept Keal Resignation Mr. John Keal, Deputy Treasurer- Collector, submitted a letter of resignation to be effective February 28, 1958. Mr. Owens reported that Mr. Keal had agreed to stay for 15 or 30 days if needed. Trustee Jaeger moved, seconded by Trustee Petesch, that Mr. Keal's resignation be accepted with thanks for his serivices. Carried unanimously. Police E'ligibi lity List The Police Eligibility list was received from the Board of Police Commissioners, as follows: 1. Paul Kaehler 2. Ralph W. Deimler 3. Kaehler Salary Trustee Petesch moved, seconded by Trustee Koss, that the starting salary of Officer Paul Kaehler be advanced two pay grades, due to his police training and experience, as recommended by Chief of Police Petersen;,and Mr. Owens, Village Manager. Approve Jonquil Terrace Trustee Brown moved, seconded by Trustee Peterson, Underground Improvements that the underground improvements in Jonquil Terrace be approved, subject to posting a one year mainten- ance bond, as recommended by Charles Greengard, Engineer. Carried unanimously. Approve Rossett-Subd. Deerfield Acres Subdivision, Clerk be authorized to sign Commission. Carried unanimously. Resolution - Oppose Tripoli Rezoning Tripoli Homes to .rezone inasmuch as the Village a0joining the Village. Carried unanimously. Trustee Koss moved, seconded by Trustee Peterson, that-the Rossett Subdivision of Lots 71 and %2, into three lots be approved, and the Presiddnt and said subdivision plat, as recommended by the Plan Trustee Koss moved, seconded by Trustee Peterson, that a resolution be adopted requesting the County Zoning Board of Appeals to deny the petition of property in West"Deecfield Township from R -1 -A to R -2, is preparing a plan for the one and one -half mile area 28 Ordinance - Water Bill Trustee Koss moved, seconded by Trustee Brown, that Dates Set By Manager an ordinance be passed amending Section 389 Of the (0 -58 -5) Municipal Code by providing that the Village Manager shall stipulate water billing dates. Trustee Koss moved, seconded by Trustee annexing the above described territory field. Refer Annexation to Plan Commission Plan Commission for public Carried unanimously. Trustee Koss moved, seconded by Trustee Peterson, that the question of establishing proper zoning for the Phil Johnson properties be referred to the hearing. Resolution Authorizing Trustee Brown moved,seconded by Trustee Koss, Baxter & Woodman Plans that a eesolution be adoptdd authorizing Baxter County Line Sewer and Woodman to proceed with(. the preparation of plans and specifications, and estimate of cost of the proposed County Line Road sewer. Adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Brown, Jaeger, Koss, Peterson, Petesch (5), Nays: None (0) Resolut,i3on- Baxter & Woodman Trustee Brown moved, seconded by Trustee Peterson, Engineering Services that a resolution be adopted authorizing employment of Baxter and Woodman for professional services as needed, on a temporary basis, with schedule of charges listed. Adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Brown, Jaeger, Koss, Peterson, Petesch (5) Nays: None (0) President Holmquist reported that, inasmuch as the Liquor Ordinance permitted only one Class B liquor license, held By Liebschutz, the application of Mr. Lyle Root for a Class B liquor license be denied, the Board of Trustees concurring in this action.
