02/11/19571 r L 1 179 February 11, 1957 The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Village of Deerfielld was called to order in the Council Chambers of the Village Hall on Monday, February 11, 1957 at 8:00 P.M. The Clerk called the roll and reported the following were Present: Joseph W. Brown Martha White Clark Carl J. Jaeger Raymond T. "ever Maurice C. Petesch Absent: John D. Schneider, President Hubert N.^Kelley and that a quorum was present and in attendance at the meeting. On motion by Trustee Jaeger, seconded by Trustee Petesch, Trustee Meyer was appointed President pro tem. Minutes of the regular meeting held January 14, 1957 and the adjourned meeting held January 28, 1957 were approved. Adopted by the followin„ vote: Ayes: Brown, Clark, Jaeger, Meyer, Petesch (5) Nuys: None (0) 1 1 1 181 Rockwell - Off- Street Trustee Petesch moved, seconded by Trustee Parking Committee Brown, that Mr. Matthew Rockwell be authorized to work with the Off- Street Parking Committee as part of his work for the Village, at no additional cost. Carried unanimously. Grant Greenwood Homes The Building Board of Appeals recommended that Downspout Appeal the petition of Greenwood Park Homes, requesting the approval of certain houses in Greenwood Park Subdivision without gutters and downspouts, be granted�and• proper drainage be required through site grading. Trustee Brown moved, seconded by Trustee Petesch, that the Board concur in the recommendation of the Building Board of Appeasl and.permit the occupancy of the sAid houses without gutters and down- spouts; that the purchasers of said houses be notified, if possible, and surface drainage for said houses be provided by proper site drainage. Carried unanimously. Authorize Bids - Sidewalk Trustee Brown moved, seconded by Trustee Jaeger, Plow and Tractor, that the Village Manager be authorized to take bids for a sidewalk show plow and tractor: Carried unanimously. Authorize Plans & Specs. Trustee Clark moved, seconded by Trustee Jaeger, North Ave. Water Main that Baxter and Woodman be authorized to proceed Baxter and Woodman with the preparation of plans and specifications for a 10" and 12" water main in North Avenue and Woodvale Drive, to tie in with the Crabtree and Wilmot mains, the estimated cost of construction being $80,000 including all fees. Adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Brown, Clark, Jaeger, Meyer, Petesch (5) Nays: None (0) Appoint Laurence Dondanville Trustee Petesch moved, seconded by Trustee Jaeger, Safety Council that Mr. Laurence Dondanville, 731 Westgate Road, be appointed to the Safety Council as the representative from the Northeast section of the Village. Carried unanimously. Approve One Billboard The Board of Zoning Appeals recommended that Harmony Builderi Harmony Builders be permitted to construct advertising signboards on Deerfield Road in their subdivision. A letter from School District 110 was read, stating they had not approved the signs, and Harmony Builders were not contributing to the School Construction Fund; as were most developers. Trustee Clark moved, seconded by Trustee Brown, that the Board approve the construction of one billboard sign for Harmony Builders at approximately the center of their Deerfield Road frontage. Carried unanimously. Authorize Return - $615 Trustee Jaeger moved, seconded by Trustee Petesch, Kuch & Watson that the Board authorize the return of $615.00 to Kuch acid Watson from the $1,000.00 held in the escrow account on the sewer construction Project. Adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Brown, Clark, Jaeger, Meyer, Petesch (5) Nays: None (0) Authorize Return - $2.377.95 Trustee Jaeger moved, seconded by Trustee Brown, SW Interceptor Sewer Escrow that $2,377.95 be returned to Mr. Harold Friedman from the Southwest Interceptor Sewer Escrow Account. Adopted by the following. vote: Ayes: Brown, Clark, Jaeger, Meyer, Petesch (5) Nays: None (0) 182 Approve Underground Improvements Trustee Clark moved, seconded by Trustee Brookside, Dowdall - Finney Subs. Jaeger, that the underground improvements in Brookside and Dowdall- Finney Subdivisions be acce;ted by the Village, subject to the one year maintenance provision, as built Dlans having been filed with the Village. C -rried unanimously. Appoint Francis Redmond Trustee Jager moved, seconded by Trustee Public llorks ept. brown, that Francis Redmond be appointed to the Public Works Department as a main- tenance man on a permanent basis at a salary of 0335.CO per ronth, subject to the customary six months probationary period. Carried unanimously. Appoint rwilliam J. Sullivan Trustee Jaege„ moved, seconded by Trustee Foreman - Dept. Public Works Brown, that Gilliam J. Sullivan be appointed Public Works loreiran on a permanent basis at a salary of $500.00 per month, reporting directly to the Village Manager, and subject to the customary six month probationary period. Adopted b.-/I the following vote: Ayes: Brown, Clark, Jaegef, Meyer, Petesch (5) Kays: None (0 ) Authcr'ze Purchase Antes Property 35,000 property on Waukegan Road or before December 26, 19 approved. Adopted by the Trustee Jaeger moved, seconded by Trustee Clark, that the President pro tem be authorized to sign the contract to purchase the Antes at a cost of $35,000.00, said property to be vacated on 57, and that the payment of $3,500.00 earnest money be following vote: Ayes: Brown, Clark, Jaeger, Keyer, Petesch (5) Nays: None (0) Ordinance - Crossing Guard Salary Trustee Brown moved, seconded by Trustee Failed to Pass Petesch, that an ordinance be adapted establishing the salary for school cressing guards at $1.50 per hour. The ordinance failed to pass by the following vote: roes: Brown, Jaeger, Petesch (3) Njys: Clark, Meyer (2) after considerable discussion, ` irustee Brown again moved the ordinance be adcpted, seconded by Trustee Pet ?sch. Upon roll call the following vote was rocordeds Ayes: Brown, Jaeger, Petesch (3) Nnys: Clark, Meycr (2) she ordinance again failed of adoption. Mr. Joseph Herrmann, Linden A „enue, requested the Board to have a rath constructed along Wilmot "oad, since the poor condition of the pavement rakes it hazardous for children walking to and from school.
