09/10/1956145 September 10, 1956 The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Village of Deerfield was called to order in the Council Chambers of the Village Hall on Monday, September 10, 1956 at 8:00 P.M. The Clerk called the roll and reported that the following were 'resent: Joseph W. Brown Carl J. Jaeger Hubert N. Kelley Raymond T. Meyer Maurice C. - 'etesch Absent: John D. Schneider, President Martha White Clark and that a quorum was present and-in attendance at the meeting. On motion by Trustee Brown, seconded by Trustee Jaeger, Trustee Meyer was appointed President pro tem. Minutes of the regular meeting held August 13, 1956 and the adjourned meeting held August 20, 1956 were approved. Trustee Clark entzred;;the meeting and was present thereafter. Adopted sger, Aelley, Meyer, Petesch (6) AT-rove Viti Variance The Board of Zoning Appeals recommended that a variance be granted to Guy Viti to permit tti,e construction of a restaurant building at Point Comfort within five (5) feet of the Milwaukee Railroad right -of -wad. Truste^ Clark moved, seconded by Trustee Petesch, that the Board of Trustees concur in the recommendation of the Board of Zoning 1ppeals, and the variance be approved. Carried unanimously.. Approve Kearney Variance The Board of Zoning Appeals recommended that a 1138 Williams variance be granted to Howard Kearney to ;permit the construction of a porch and garage w:i.thi.n 62 feet of the east lot line at 113:' Williams Avenue. Trustee Clark moved, seconder' by Trustee Brown, that the Board concur in the reconmcndation of the Board of Zoning Appeals, and the variance be granted and building; perml.t issued. Carried unanimously. 1 1 1 1 147' Authorize Patterson Variance The Board of Zoning Appeals recommended that 1550 Crabtree a variance be granted to.H. B. Patterson, 1550 Crabtree Lane, to permit the construction of a. family room addition within 72 feet of the side lot line. Trustee Clark moved, seconded.by Trustee JaeLer,.that the Board concur in the recommendation of the Board of Zoning Appeals, and the variance be grnated and building permit issued. Carried unanimously. Approve Deerfield Garden The Board of Zoning Appeals recommended that Apartment Sign permission be given Quinlan and Tyson to erect a 6' x 8' sign for the Deerfield Garden Apart - ments at 1145 Deerfield Rca d. Trustee Petesch moved, seconded by Trustee Jaeger, that permission be grnated Quinlan and Tyson to erect said sign for a period of one year. Carried unanimously. Ordinance - School Crossing Lights forth penalties for violatio Ayes: Brown, Clark, Jaeger, Nays: None (0) Trustee Brown moved, seconded by Trustee Petesch, that an Ordinance be adopted governing observance of school crossing traffic lights, and setting ns thereof. Adopted by the following vote: Kelley, Meyer, Petesch (6) Resolution - School Crossing Trustee Brown moved, seconded by Trustee Petesch, Sighal- Waukegan & Osterman that a resolution be adopted authorizing the erection of a school crossing signal at- Wauke gan Road and Osterman Avenue, and application be made to the State Highway Depart- ment for a permit for said signal. Carried unanimously. Invest Municipal Building Funds are not currently needed for Carried unanimously. Trustee Jaeger - moved, seconded by ,l'rustee Kelley, that investment be authorized of such funds from the sale of the Municipal Building Bond issue that construction purposes. Resolution - Signatures Trustee Jaeger moved, seconded by Trustee Petesch, Building Construction Atct, that a reeolution be adopted authorizing the establishment of a Municipal Building Construction Account with the Northern Trust Company, with the customary four authorized signatures, i.e., the President or Chairman of the Finance Committee, the Village Treasurer, and Village Clerk. Carried unanimously. Consideration of the Christian Science elderly people's home, and Valenti's request for variances was tabled to September 17, 1956. The Town Meeting of September 10, sponsored by the Board to discuss re- zoning the property between Waukegan Road and the Railroad, and Central Avenue and County Line Road was discussed briefly by Mr. Ed. Gillen, President, Chamber of Commerce and Trustee Kelley. Trustee Kelley stated six residents with differing opinions would discuss the pros and cons of the petitioned rezoning. Panel members are Mrs. Willard Loarie, Mrs. James Tibbetts, George Richards, Lewis B. Walton, Sr., haymond Goodpasture, and Edwin Gillen, with Mr. Robert York.. as moderator. On motion by Trustee Jaeger, seconded by Trustee Kelley, the meeting was adjourned to September 17, 1956, at 8:00 P.M. Approved: President Attest: Villa ge Clerk
