04/09/1956Ito April 9, 1956 The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Village of Deerfield was called to order by the President in the Council Chambers of the Village Hall on Monday, April 9, 1956, at 8:00.P.M. The Clerk called the roll and reported that the following were Present: John D. Schneider, President Joseph W. Brown Martha White Clark Carl J. Jaeger Hubert N. Kelley Raymond T. Meyer Maurice C' Petesch Absent: None and that a quorum was present and in attendance at the meeting. Minutes of the regular meeting held March 12, 1956 were approved. Adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Brown, Clark, Jaeger, Kelley, Meyer, Petesch (6) Nays: None (0) Approve Reports The Police report submitted by Chief of Police Petersen for the month of March, 1956, showing 110 cases and fines �f $933, was approved. The report of Mr. Hooper, Building Commissioner \, was approved, The Health report submitted by Health Officer Esther Giss was approved. Appoint Committee Trustee Petesch moved, seconded by Trustee Kelley, Dangerous Building that Messrs. William Pittenger, Blair Lloyd, and Ben Piersen be appointed to investigate Point Comfort Restaurant, which is reported by the Building Commissioner to be more than 50% destroyed. Carried unanimously. Approve $29,844.93 - Trustee Meyer moved, seconded by Trustee Jaeger, Mercury Builders that payment of $29,844.93 be approved to Mercury Builders for work completed on the Sewage Treat- ment plant. Adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Brown, Clark, Jaeger, Kelley, Beyer, Petesch (6) Nays: None (0) Approve 1.053.81 - Trustee Meyer moved, seconded by Trustee Kelley, Baxter & Woodman- that payment of $1,053.81 to Baxter and Woodman be approved for engineering and supervision on the Sewage Treatment plant. Adopted by the following vote Ayes: Brown, Clark, Jaeger, Kelley, Meyer, Petesch (6) Nays: None (0) Safety Tires - New Trustee Petesch moved, seconded by Trustee Kelley, Police Gar that five safety tires be purchased for-be new police car at a cost of $115.20. Adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Brown, Clark, Jaeger, Kelley, Meyer, Petesch (6) Nays: None (0) Set Date - M.F.T. Bids Trustee Brown moved, seconded by Trustee Jaeger, that a notice be published setting April 20, 1956 for receiving bids for street patching materials under the Xotor Fuel Tax Program. Carried unanimously. 111 112 Authorize Deerfield Park The Chicago Construction Company requested Dales Office permission to use the model home on Deerfield Road as a sales office, and Lots 12, 14, and 16 as a temporary parking lot. Trustee Clark moved, seconded by Trustee Meyer, that permission be granted Chicago Construction Company to use the model house as a sales office, and the request for the temporary parking lot be referred to the Plan Commission. Carried unanimously. jNilmot School Sign The Chicago Construction Company requested Approved permission to erect a sign at the site of the new school they are building for Wilmot District. Trustee Clark moved, seconded by Trustee Brown, that permission be given Chicago Construction Company to erect a 60 square foot sign at the school, but only for the duration of the construction. Carried unanimously. A letter from the American Legion was received thanking the Board for its cooperation in removing the old American Legion home. Doughnut Day -June 15, 1956 Trustee Kelley moved, seconded by Trustee Petesch, that the Salvation Army be permitted to hold a tag day on June 15, 1956, this request haying been approved by the United Fund. Carried unanimously. Authorize Truck Purchase Bids were received for a pickup truck for the 41400.00- Reiland & Brea Building Department, as follows: International Truck Sales standard transmission $1350.00 Waukegan automatic " 1550.00 Holmes Motors standard transmssion 1450.00 Highland Park automatic it 1570.00 Reiland & Brea automatic transmission 1400.00 Northbrook Trustee Meyer moved, seconded by Trustee Brown, that the truck be purchased fror.. Reiland & Brea at their bid price of $1400.00. Christ be authorized to clean the septic tanks at a cost of $185 each, with an additional $15 for each tank if pumping is required. Adopted by the Ayes: Brown, Cl #rk, Jaeg Nays: None (0) Trustee Clark moved, seconded by Trustee Jaeger, that the agreement with Donald Rogers Tree Seriice be approved for spraying elm trees at a cost of property, and $695.00 per 8 hour day for trees on following vote: er, Kelley, Meyer, Petesch (6) Ordinance - No Building Trustee Kelley moved, seconded by Trustee Petesch, Fees - Taxing Bodies that an ordinance be adopted exempting taxing bodies from payment of building permit fees. Adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Brown, Clar], Jaeger, Kelley, Meyer, Petesch (6) Nays: None (0) Trustee Clark moved, seconded by Trustee Meyer, Ordinance - Vacation that an ordinance be adopted vacating Central Central Avenue Avenue from Wilmot Road to a point 330 feet west of the Westerly line of Deerpath Diive, as extended. Adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Brown, Clark, Jaeger, Kelley, Meyer, Petesch (6) Nays: None (0) Trustee Brown moved, seconded by Trustee Kelley, Street Sweeper Bids that April 23, 1956 at 3:00 p.m. be set as the April 23. 1956 date for receiving sealed bids for a street sweeper. Carried unanimously. A petition signed by residents of Be,yerly Place requesting the Board to effectuate the rezoning of the property lying east of Beverly Place was presented day Mr. Harold Wynkoop, Attorney. Three signers of said petition asked that their signatures be withdrawn; whereupon Mr. Wynkoop withdrew the petition and the proposed plat of subdivision. The Building Board of Appeals recommended denial Approve Variance,- of the petition of Walton and Walton to amend the Deerfield Garden Building Code to permit the construction of Apartments multiple family dwellings with one stairway. Mr. Walton, Sr. requested a variance, and agreed to comply with certain conditions set by the Building Board of Appeals. Trustee Meyer moved, seconded by Trustee Kelley, Authorize Purchase that the Village Manager and Trustee Brown be Grass Seed - $300 authorized to purchase sufficient grass seed to replant parkways damaged during the sewer constru- ction program at a cost of not to exceed $6300.00.
