09/27/1954September 27, 1954 the special meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Village of Deerfield was called to order in the Council Chambers of the Village Mall on Monday, September 27, 1954 at 7:30 P.M. pursuant to notice of said meeting mailed to each Trustee on September 22, 1954• The Clerk called the roll and reported that the following were Present: Fred 0. Dicus Eugane F. Engelhard Hubert N. Kelley Joseph W. King Raymond T. Meyer Harold W. Wynkoop Absent John D. Schneider, President and that a quorum was present and in attendance at the meeting. On motion by Trustee Kelley, seconded by Trustee Dicus, Trustee King was appointed President pro teip. Mr. Rupp, Village Manager, stated the purpose of the meeting was to consider the resignation of Supt. of Public Works, William D. Johnston. It was the consensus of the Board that Mr. Johnstongs resignation be accepted without any specific date and someone be trained as a replacement. Trustee Meyer moved, seconded by Trustee Engelhard, John Hooper that John D. Hooper be employed as Building Hired Commissioner and Village Engineer at a salary of $5,500 per year, starting October 4, 1954• Adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Dicus, Engelhard, kelley, King, Meyer, Wynkoop (6) Nays: None (0) Trustee Engelhard moved, seconded by Trustee Meyer, that Mr. D.J.L. Walther be advised that the Village has undertaken to imploy a Village Engineer who will assume all duties as such, except such duties as will require outside assistance. Carried unanimously.
