RESOLUTION
AUTHORIZING THE CONSIDERATION OF
ANNEXATION OF RED ROOF INN PROPERTY
WHEREAS, the Village of Deerfield is a home rule unit of
local government by virtue of the provisions of the Illinois
Constitution of 1970;
WHEREAS, in the exercise of its home rule powers the Village
of Deerfield has entered into an Intergovernmental Agreement
dated July 25, 1995 by and between the Village of Deerfield and
the Village of Northbrook and known as the "Lake -Cook Road
Corridor Agreement ";
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 3D of the Lake -Cook Road
Corridor Agreement the parcel described therein as the "Red Roof
Inn Parcel" is subject to future annexation by the Village of
Deerfield;
WHEREAS, pursuant to a certain Settlement Agreement dated
January 22, 1987 by and between Red Roof Inns, Inc., an Ohio
corporation and the Village of Deerfield (the "Settlement
Agreement "), all matters and controversies in a certain case
filed in the Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois and known as
Case No. 86 CH 7154 were settled and compromised;
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 7 of the Settlement Agreement
Red Roof Inns, Inc. agreed to seek annexation of the Red Roof.. Inn
Parcel to the Village of Deerfield upon the request of the
corporate authorities of the Village of Deerfield embodied in a
duly adopted Resolution; and
WHEREAS, the corporate authorities of the Village of
Deerfield, after a full consideration of all issues affecting
this matter, have determined that it is in the best interest of
the public welfare of the Village of Deerfield and the residents
thereof that the Village of Deerfield request annexation of the
Red Roof Inn Parcel as referred to in the aforementioned
Settlement Agreement and Lake -Cook Road Corridor Agreement.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Corporate Authorities
of the Village of Deerfield, Lake and Cook Counties, as follows:
SECTION ONE: That the Corporate Authorities of the Village
of Deerfield do find that the consideration
of the annexation of the Red Roof Inn Parcel
as described in both the Lake -Cook Corridor

Agreement and the Settlement Agreement be
undertaken, and the corporate authorities of
the Village of Deerfield hereby request the
owner of the Red Roof Inn Parcel to petition
the Village of Deerfield for annexation of
the Red Roof Inn Parcel.
SECTION TWO: That the Village Clerk is hereby directed to
furnish a certified copy of this Resolution
to both Red Roof Inns, Inc. and the Village
Clerk of the Village of Northbrook.
SECTION THREE: That this Resolution shall be in full force
and effect from and after its passage and
approval in the manner provided by law.
