WHEREAS, winning a championship of any kind at any level is gratifying and
something of which to be proud; and
WHEREAS, to repeat as champions is even more special in that it is difficult to
maintain a level of excellence once at the top; and
WHEREAS, three consecutive championships represent a truly remarkable feat,
particularly when it is accomplished in a field as competitive as the National Basketball
Association; and
WHEREAS, The Chicago Bulls' three -peat performance, unheralded in Chicago
sports history, was first predicted by the Village at the dedication of their new practice
facility; and
WHEREAS, it should be noted that the Bulls' rise to the top and their recent
successes happened to coincide with their affiliation with the Village of Deerfield; and
WHEREAS, we are fair enough to admit that, perhaps, a certain player who
wears #23 has had a greater impact on the Bulls' winning ways than the fact that the team
practices in Deerfield:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD
OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD:
SECTION The Village of Deerfield congratulates the Chicago Bulls on
ONE their third consecutive NBA Title.
SECTION Tuesday, June 22nd is hereby proclaimed "DEERFIELD BULLS
TWO DAY" to publicly acknowledge the Bulls organization and to thank
them for making all of us in Deerfield feel like champions.
