R-92-01RESOLUTION NO. R -92 -1 RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF LAKE COUNTY FOREST PRESERVE DISTRICT ACQUISITION OF PART OF FORT SHERIDAN WHEREAS, the future of the Fort Sheridan property is of major concern to the residents of Deerfield; and WHEREAS, the Forest Preserve District -of Lake County has recently offered the U.S. Department of Defense $10 million for the northern portion of the Fort Sheridan property, an environmentally sensitive site which is on the shore of Lake Michigan and includes a variety of natural areas and a golf course; and WHEREAS, to date, the recommendations of the Fort .Sheridan Commission have been largely ignored by the Department of Defense; and WHEREAS, the residents of Deerfield would like to see. as much of the Fort property as possible remain as open space for the use and enjoyment of generations to come; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD, LAKE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS: SECTION That the Mayor and Board of Trustees of the Village of Deerfield, Lake and ONE: Cook Counties, Illinois, hereby expresses its support and approval of the plan by the Lake County Forest Preserve District to acquire a 250 acre parcel located at the northern end of the Fort Sheridan Military Reserve. SECTION That the Village Clerk is hereby directed to send certified copies of this TWO: Resolution to Secretary of Defense Dick Cheney, Congressman John Porter, Senator Alan Dixon and Senator Paul Simon. SECTION That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its THREE: passage and approval in the manner provided by law. PASSED this 6th day of January, A.D., 1992.
