AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 2 -156 AND 2 -158
OF CHAPTER 2 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE
OF THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD, ILLINOIS OF 1975
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE
VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD, LAKE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION That Section 2 -156 entitled "Establishment; number of members" of
ONE: Chapter 2 of the Municipal Code of the Village of Deerfield of 1975, as
amended, be and the same is further amended by adding thereto a new
subsection (a) (11) as follows:
"(a) (11) Fine Arts Commission - Seven members."
SECTION That Section 2 -158 entitled "Duties and functions" of Chapter 2 of the
TWO: Municipal Code of the Village of Deerfield of 1975, as amended, be and
the same is further amended by adding thereto a new subsection (a) (11) as
follows:
"(a) (11) Fine Arts Commission. The Fine Arts Commission shall have
the following functions and duties within the Village:
A. Promote and encourage the artistic and cultural environment
within the Village.
B. Support individuals and groups of diverse artistic disciplines,
including providing volunteers through creating a volunteer
pool.
C. Foster and promote an appreciation of Fine Arts within the
Village by enlisting and encouraging public and private
agencies, as well as the general public, to support art and
cultural events within the Village.
D. Establish and maintain an information network of both
individuals and organizations within the Village to produce and
sponsor various arts, and direct the sharing of resources among
them.
E. Create a Village -wide arts and culture calendar, and serve as a

clearing center for information to the general public concerning
the activities of art related organizations and individuals who
advance arts and culture in the Village.
F. Become a resource center to provide help and information in
obtaining grant applications for various grants and available
funding.
(b) Term of Appointment. Initially, two members shall be appointed
for one year, two members shall be appointed for a terms of two years, and
three members for three years by the Village President with the advice and
consent of the Board of Trustees. Thereafter, all appointments shall be for
a period of three years as provided in Section 2 -157 hereof.
SECTION That the Village Clerk is hereby directed to publish this Ordinance in
THREE: pamphlet form.
SECTION That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its
FOUR: passage, approval and publication as provided by law.
