AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTERS 6, 8, 16, 19 AND 23
OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD
OF 1975, AS AMENDED, AND REVISING CERTAIN FEES
RELATED TO THE BUILDING PROCESS
WHEREAS, the Village of Deerfield has established certain
building permit and fee schedules relating to the building
process; and
WHEREAS, the Village has determined that many of the permit
fees and other fees relating to the building process do not
adequately compensate the Village for the time and effort needed
to process, review and oversee such work within the Village; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and the Board of Trustees believe it is
in the best interest of the Village to update and revise certain
of those fees.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Mayor and Board of
Trustees of the Village of Deerfield, Lake and Cook Counties,
Illinois, as follows:
SECTION That Section 6 -1 of Chapter 6 of the Municipal

deleting said Section in its entirety and inserting in lieu
thereof the following:
"Sec. 6 -1 Permit Required.
A building permit shall be required for all
plumbing, electrical and roofing work except
as specifically provided in Chapter 6
Building, Chapter 8 Electricity, Chapter 16
Plumbing and Sewers, and below.
A building permit shall also be required for all
construction or improvement work where the cost of
such construction or improvement work exceeds $500
and such work is regulated by the provisions of
the Village of Deerfield Building Codes. Permits
are not required for such work as the installation
of vinyl siding, the replacement of wall or floor
coverings, the repair or replacement of plumbing
fixtures where no modification or extension of any
plumbing is required, or similar kinds of
replacement or repair."

SECTION That Section 6 -6 of Chapter 6 of the Municipal

SECTION That Section 6 -6 of Chapter 6 of the Municipal

inaccurate or incorrect information , failure
to make necessary repairs due to faulty
workmanship, or for not cancelling scheduled
inspections when the work to be inspected has
not been completed shall be twenty -five
dollars ($25.00).

SECTION That Section 16 -5 of Chapter 16 of the Municipal

deleting Section 16 -5 in its entirety and inserting in lieu
thereof the following:

Twenty -Five Dollars ($25.00) shall be paid at the
time of application for the permit. Upon
completion of the driveway and any parkway
restoration necessitated by installation of the
driveway and upon approval of the Director of
Community Development, such deposit, less Twenty -
Five Dollars ($25.00) for inspection fees and
less any amounts the Director of Community
Development determines are necessary to complete.

SECTION That Section 19 -36 of Chapter 19 of the Municipal
ELEVEN: Code of the Village of Deerfield of 1975, as
amended, be and is hereby further amended by
deleting the first sentence of subsection (c) in its entirety and
inserting in lieu thereof the following:
"In addition, a nonrefundable permit and
inspection fee in the amount of Thirty Dollars
($30.00) and a minimum deposit in the amount of
One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00) shall be paid by
such persons to insure proper completion of such
restoration."
SECTION That Section 23 -5 of Chapter 23 of the Municipal

Charges shall be made only for materials and services
actually furnished by the Village.
* Subject to current price F.O.B. Deerfield,
Illinois, plus fifteen percent (15 %) handling and
stocking.
(b) Fixture Fee: A fee of Five Dollars ($5.00)
per fixture for each new plumbing fixture,
installation or replacement in any new or
existing buildings, including fixtures roughed in
for fixture use. An inspection fee of Twenty -
Five Dollars ($25.00) shall be charged for
inspection of plumbing."
