AN ORDINANCE TO ADOPT BY REFERENCE THE BOCA NATIONAL BUILDING
CODE /1993, BOCA NATIONAL MECHANICAL CODE /1993,
BOCA NATIONAL PLUMBING CODE /1993, CABO ONE AND TWO FAMILY
DWELLING CODE /1992, BOCA NATIONAL FIRE PROTECTION CODE /1993 AND
THE BOCA NATIONAL ENERGY CONSERVATION CODE /1993
WHEREAS, the Board of Building Appeals has recommended that
because of the need to update the applicable codes within the
Village, that the Boca National Building Code /1993, BOCA National
Mechanical Code /1993, BOCA National Plumbing Code /1993, CABO One
and Two Family Dwelling Code 1992, BOCA National Fire Protection
Code /1993 and the BOCA National Energy Conservation Code /1993 be
adopted to govern construction and related matters in the
Village; and
WHEREAS, three (3) copies-of each of said Codes have been
filed in the Office of the Village Clerk of this Village and have
remained on file with the Village Clerk and available for public
use, inspection, and examination for a continuous period of
thirty (30) days prior to the date hereof; and
WHEREAS, a notice regarding the filing of said copies of the
Codes in the Office of the Village Clerk has been duly published
in the Deerfield Review to advise the public that said Codes were
available for public use, inspection and examination in the
Office of the Village Clerk during a period of thirty (30) days
following the date of publications of such notice; and
WHEREAS, it is deemed to be in the best interest of this
Village that the said Codes as modified in the manner hereinafter
described be adopted and the Municipal Code of the Village be
amended in certain respects.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF
TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD, LAKE AND COOK COUNTIES,
ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION That the BOCA National Building Code /1993, BOCA
ONE: National Mechanical Code /1993, BOCA National
Plumbing Code /19'93, CABO One and Two Family
Dwelling Code /1992, BOCA National Fire Protection Code /1993 and
the BOCA National Energy Conservation Code /1993 with the
following modifications -are hereby adopted by reference and that
the modifications set forth below to the Municipal Code of the
Village be hereby adopted.

Modifications:
1. Amend Sections 6 -2(a), 6 -3, 10 -1(a), 16 -1(a) and
16 -16 by deleting references to prior Codes and
insert references to the adoption of each of the
Codes.adopted hereby.
2. Delete Sections 121.2.of the BOCA National
Building Code /1993, Section P -121.2 of the BOCA
National Plumbing Code /1993, Section M -121.2 of.
the BOCA National Mechanical Code /1993 and Section
F.113.2 of the BOCA National Fire Protection
Code /1993.
3. Amend Sections R -215.2 of the CABO One and Two
Family Dwelling Code /1992 to read as follows:
"In new construction the required smoke detectors
shall receive their primary power from the
building wiring when such wiring is served from a
commercial source and when primary power is
interrupted, shall receive power from a battery.
Wiring shall be permanent and without a
disconnecting switch other than those required for
overcurrent protection. Smoke detectors may be
battery operated when installed in buildings
without commercial power or when a detector is
required in an area that is not included in the
area undergoing the alteration, repairs, or
additions regulated by the second paragraph of
this Section."
SECTION That the Village Clerk is hereby directed to
TWO: publish this Ordinance in pamphlet form.
SECTION That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in
THREE: conflict herewith are, to the extent of such
conflict, hereby repealed.
