AN ORDINANCE AMENDING PORTIONS OF CHAPTER 7 OF THE
MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD OF 1975
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE
VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD, LAKE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS, AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION That Section 7 -77.2 "Purpose and definitions" of
ONE: Chapter 7 of the Municipal Code of Deerfield of
1975, as amended, be and the same is hereby
further amended by deleting subsection (b)(11) in its entirety
and substituting in lieu thereof the following:
(11) The term "false alarm" means the activation
of an alarm system through mechanical failure,
malfunction, improper installation, or the
negligence of the owner or lessee of an alarm
system or of his employees or agents. Such
terminology does not include, for example, alarms
cause by hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, or
other catastrophic conditions.
SECTION That Section 7 -77.2 "Purpose and definitions" of
TWO: Chapter 7 of the Municipal Code of Deerfield of
1975, as amended, be and the same is hereby
further amended by adding a new subsection (b)(15) as set forth
below and renumbering the succeeding subparagraphs (16), (17),
(18), (19), (20), (21), (22) and (23) in lieu of subparagraphs
(15), (16), (17), (18), (19), (20), (21) and (22).
(15) The term "outside ringers" refers to a
signaling system which is audible outside the
premises within which the system is installed.
SECTION That Section 7 -77.13 "Operating,Instructions" of
THREE: Chapter 7 of the Municipal Code of Deerfield of
1975, as amended, be and the same is hereby
further amended by adding thereto subsection (c) as follows:
(c) Following activation outside ringers shall be
reset within five minutes and not be reactivated
after the first annunciation.
SECTION That the Village Clerk is hereby directed to

SECTION That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in

conflict, hereby repealed.
SECTION That this Ordinance shall be in full force and

publication, as provided by law.
