O-93-22JKS930RDS.VODA1041391 ORDINANCE NO. 0 -93 -22 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ARTICLE 91 SECTION 2 -105 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD OF 1975 Published in pamphlet form this 3rd day of May , 1993 by the President and Board of Trustees of Deerfield ORDINANCE NO. 0 -93 -22 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ARTICLE 9, SECTION 2 -105 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD OF 1975 BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD, LAKE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS AS FOLLOWS: SECTION This Ordinance is enacted by the Corporate ONE: Authorities of the Village of Deerfield in the exercise of the Home Rule powers vested in the Village of Deerfield as a result of its Home Rule status pursuant to the Constitution of the State of Illinois of 1970. SECTION That Section 2 -105 entitled "Appointments and TWO: promotions" of Article 9 of the Municipal Code of the Village of Deerfield of 1975, as amended, be and the same is further amended by deleting said section in its entirety and substituting in lieu thereof the following: "Section 2 -105. Appointments and promotions. (a) Appointments to and promotions within the Police Department, other than to the offices of Chief of Police, Deputy Chief and Commander shall be made by the Board of Police Commissioners in the manner provided by Statute except as hereinafter provided. (b) The Chief of Police may, from time to time, appoint two (2) members of the Police Department to serve as Deputy Chiefs and six (6) members of the Police Department to serve as Commanders, provided said members at that time hold the rank of Sergeant or above. The Chief of Police shall have the right to remove any such member so appointed to the position of Deputy Chief or Commander and thereafter said member shall retain the rank held prior to appointment as Deputy Chief or Commander. (c) Any permanent appointment to the rank of Sergeant shall be preceded by a six (6) month probationary period which may be extended by action of the Board of Police Commissioners to a one (1) year probationary period. If the Board of ORDINANCE NO. 0 -93 -22 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ARTICLE 9, SECTION 2 -105 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD OF 1975 Police Commissioners shall determine, either during or upon conclusion of the probationary period that an appointment to the rank of Sergeant should not be made permanent, or, if said appointee desires to resign the rank of Sergeant, said appointee shall revert to the rank of Patrol Officer without loss of any benefit accruing to said rank." SECTION That all Ordinances or parts of ordinances in THREE: conflict herewith are, to the extent of such conflict, hereby repealed. SECTION That the Village Clerk is hereby directed to FOUR: publish this Ordinance in pamphlet form. SECTION That this ordinance shall be in full force and FIVE: effect from and after its passage, approval and publication, as provided by law.
