AN ORDINANCE AMENDING PORTIONS OF ARTICLES 6.01 -C AND 8.02 -E
OF THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD
WHEREAS, the Plan Commission of the Village of Deerfield has
heretofore held a public hearing on the application of WALGREEN
CO. (the "Applicant ") to consider certain text amendments to the
Zoning Ordinance of the Village of Deerfield relative to
permitting an Employee Child Day Care Facility and associated
parking in the I -1 Office, Research, Restricted Industrial
District as a special use upon certain conditions and in certain
circumstances; and
WHEREAS, said hearing was held pursuant to duly published
notice thereof and was in all respects held according to law; and
WHEREAS, the Plan Commission of the Village of Deerfield,
after considering the evidence adduced, made written findings of
fact and recommended text amendments to the Zoning Ordinance of
the Village of Deerfield to achieve the objectives sought by the
Applicant; and
WHEREAS, the President and Board of Trustees of the Village
of Deerfield have determined that the recommendation of the Plan
Commission will serve the best interests of the Village of
Deerfield.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF
TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD, LAKE AND COOK COUNTIES,
ILLINOIS, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION That Article 6.01 -C of the Zoning Ordinance of
ONE: the Village of Deerfield, as amended, be and
the same is further amended by adding a new
article 6.01 -C,13 to read as follows:
"13. Child Care Facilities
Child day care facilities when located within
an office building and operated for the
convenience of the employees of that office
building or of other office buildings within
the office development in which the day care
facility is located. Such facility shall not
be open to the general public. Appropriate
outdoor play areas may be included as part of
the facility."
SECTION That Article 8.02 -E,5 of the Zoning Ordinance
TWO: of the Village of Deerfield, as amended
(Parking requirements for nursery schools, day
nurseries, and child care centers) be further
amended by numbering the existing provision

pertaining to facilities which are open to the
public "(1)" and titling it:
"(1) Facilities open to the general
public"
and adding a new "(2)" thereto with the
following language:
"(2) Employee facilities located in the
I -1 Office, Research, Restricted
Industrial District.
No additional parking spaces shall be
required for facilities established
pursuant to Article 6.01 -C,13 beyond the
number required if the day care center
were used as office space."
That the Village Clerk is hereby directed
to publish this Ordinance in pamphlet form.
That this Ordinance shall be in full force and
effect, from and after its passage, approval
and publication, as provided by law.
