AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ARTICLE 2 OF CHAPTER 15
OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE
VILLAGE OF DEERFIELD, LAKE AND COOK COUNTIES, ILLINOIS AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION That Article 2, Chapter 15, Morals and Conduct
ONE: of the Municipal Code of the Village of Deerfield
of 1975, as amended, be the same as further
amended by adding thereto Section 15 -24A:
"Sec. 15 -24A. Fortunetelling.
It shall be unlawful for any person to obtain
money or property from another by practicing or
assuming to practice or holding one's self out as
skilled in fortunetelling by means of card
reading, palmistry, phrenology, necromancy,
clairvoyance, astrology, seership, spirit
mediumship, character reading or any crafty
science, or by any other device or practice
whereby money is obtained from the general public
on the pretense of exercise of occult or psychic
powers."
SECTION That the Village Clerk is hereby directed to
TWO: publish this Ordinance in pamphlet form.
SECTION That this Ordinance shall be full force and
THREE: effect from and after its passage, approval and
publication as provided by law.
