R-83-08RESOLUTION R -83 -08 WHEREAS, the topic of solid waste management and resource recovery is timely and in need of immediate attention in Lake County; and WHEREAS, solutions to solid waste management are complex and pervasive, re- quiring the attention and resources of government and private industry; and . : WHEREAS, it is felt that Lake County, the municipalities, the townships, waste management companies, private industries, and the public must cooperate in a county =wide effort to provide long -term solutions to manage solid waste. in Lake County; and WHEREAS, the Lake County Board, at its regularly scheduled meeting on Feb- ruary 8, 1983 adopted a Resolution which approved a work program for a Lake County Solid Waste Management Plan and authorized the application.of $55,000 from the 1983 Lake County Revenue.Sharing allocation for a work program; and ;WHEREAS, the Lake County Board has also approved the expenditure of an additional $50,000 of budgeted County staff time toward said work program; and WHEREAS, the Lake County Board has also allocated $40,000 of its 1983 Community Development Sub Grant for said work program; and WHEREAS, said Resolution resolved that the implementation of the work program for a Solid Waste Management Plan would be funded in the amount of $200,000 to be shared in the following manner: $ 40,000 Community Development Sub Grant, 1983 $ 553-000 'Cash contribution, County of Lake $ 50,000 Budgeted County Resources $ 55,000 Cash contributions, Lake County Municipalities, Townships and Private Industry $200,000; and WHEREAS, the Lake County Board, at its meeting on February 8, 1983, adopted a Resolution which established the Lake County Solid Waste Advisory Committee to consist of twenty -seven (27) members, seven (7) of whom would be Mayors or•Presi- dents of Lake County municipalities: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Deerfield that the work being done by the Solid Waste Advisory Com- mittee is supported as a broad -based approach, being the first step in addressing the topic of long term solid waste management in Lake County. FURTHER, in support of the Solid Waste Advisory Committee's work, the Presi- dent and Board of Trustees of the Village of Deerfield, at 'their regularly scheduled meeting on April 4, 1983, allocated $1,800 from Village funds for this purpose.
